UNITE@ WILLIAM' VOSS, OF DAVENPORT, IOWA,
`Wiisnrun STAND. 1
I Application led March 31, 1922. Serial No 548,313.
T all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. Voss, a citizen of the United States, residing at Davenport, Iowa, have invented certain new 5 and useful Improvements in l/Vashtub Sta-nds, of which the following is a speci fication.
My invention relates more particularly to the construction of portable stands Vadapted to be folded up when not in use and stored in any convenient place and comprises among its objects to provide such a stand having such a construction that parts there of can be folded into overlapping positions so as to occupy as little space as possible and yet have the requisite strength and rigidity; to construct a sta-nd of the character stated having provision for carrying away any water draining from tubs mounted thereon; to provide a stand of the character stated having drainage means carried thereby and means yconnected with the drainage means to prevent the splashing of water being drained from a tub or tubs mounted on the stand; and such further objects, ad-
vantages, and capabilities as will later more fully appear.
My invention further resides in the combination, construction, and arrangement of parts illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and while I have shown therein a preferred form of my invention I desire the same to be understood as illustrative only and not as limiting said invention.
In the drawings annexed hereto and forming a part hereof,
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a stand embodying my invention having mounted thereon in position of use one tub.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of my new stand in folded position.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal vertical section of my new stand with a pair of tubs mounted thereon.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of this new stand with the tubs removed therefrom.
Fig. 5 is a cross section through one end of my stand and a tub mounted thereon.
Referring more in detail to the annexed 50 drawings, numeral 1 denotes a pair of side pieces and 2 a plurality of cross pieces secured to the top of the side pieces and together forming a top on which may be supported tubs 3. A drain trough 4 is 55 mounted within the confines of the top and may be secured to a part or all of the cross pieces 2 in any suitable manner. f The 1nan ner of securing the trough to these cross pieces is at present considered unimportant, so long as the trough is firmly secured in place in such position that water draining from the tubs will be sure to reach the interior of the trough.
In the form of my invention shown in the accompanying drawings a nipple 6 is provided on the underside of the trough, to which may be secured, as by a close sliding fit, a drain pipe 7 which will carry the water downwardly into a bucket, floor drainage openings, or the like. It will therefore be seen that with such a construction it will be an easy matter to remove the pipe 7 and place the saine wherever desired, as, for example, inside of the trough 4, for storage purposes. l/Vith the parts so arranged, this part of the construction will be entirely within the confines of the top. The legs 8 and 9 which are pivoted to the top at 10 and 11, can now be folded into overlapping rela-tion with and in close proximity to the underside of the top. It will be clear from the drawings that legs 8 fold inside of 'the side pieces 1, while legs 9 fold outside thereof. It is also clear that the cross pieces 12 will extend across the underside of the top in such a manner as to serve as protecting means for the drainage trough 4. rIhe cross pieces 2 are shown as provided with a plurality of cleats which serve Ito properly position the tubs on the stand when in use and to prevent the same from longitudinal inotion thereon.
It is of course understood that the specific description of structure set forth above may be departed from without departing from the spirit of my invention as set forth in this specification and the appended claims.
Having now described my invention, I claim 1. In a stand of the character described, a supporting top, legs pivoted thereto and foldable into a position in close proximity to the top, and a drain trough mounted in said top and adapted to receive drainage from a container resting on the top when in use.
2. In a structure of the character described, a supporting top, legs pivoted thereto and foldable into a position in close proximity to the top, and a drain tlQLlgh secured to said top beneath the upper 'face thereof to receive drainage from removable containers on the top When in position of use.
3. In a structure of the ,character de- 5 scribed, a foldable standheving mounted Within the confines thereof a drain trough for receiving Water draining from it plu.- rality of tubs on the stand, said stand being provided With means to detachabiy support 10 and position tubs thereon, in position for the trough.
Water draining from the tubs to enter the In'vvitness whereof, I hereunto subscribe my name to this specification 1n the presence of two Witnesses.
WILLIAM H. VOSS.
