Other objects of this Vinvention consist of providin a garment press having a maximum o clearance for the operator, exibility of adjustment to the varying thickness of the material to be ironed or pressed,
and means for applying heatto the garment. i
With the improved construction embodied in the present invention, .I am enabled to smooth and iron out the wrinkles and creases in the garments with great facility, and this 26 I accomplish by the simple and linexpensive device, substantially 'as hereinafter more fully described and pointed 4out in the claims.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved garment-presser device. Fig. 2 is a detail and bottom plan view of the ironing-head with the ironing plate removed. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary and sectional detail view of the ironing head. Fig. 4 isa side elevation of the garment-pressing device, with a part thereof in section to show the means for operating the pressing buck. Fig. 5 is a longitudinal and horizontal sec tional view of the pressing buck. Fig. 6 is a longitudinal and vertical sectional view of the pressing buck. Fig. 7 is a diagram of the electric wiring and heating elements. Fig. 8 is a fragmentary and sectional detail view of the supporting yoke.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, my im roved garment-press consists of a standard 1, a yoke 22 integral therewith, and a table 23 supported by legs 24 and the standard. The ironing head 25 is integral with movable arm 26, pivotall connected with movable arm 27, which 1s pivotally `mounted on the cylindrical portion 28, of oke 22, and supported by collar 29 and I gearing cap 30, the collar being screwthreaded to engage with the threaded portion 71 for adjustment, and retained in adjusted position by set-screw 31. The ironing head' consists of movable arm 26, integral casing 32 and integral operating handle 33. Within casing 32, and projecting at the bottom thereof, 1s a revolnbly mounted ironing plate 34, connected by arms 35, to a .rotative shaft 36, which has an yintegral contact head 37 having contact rings 38 and 39. Fig. 2 shows a bottom view of the ironin member with the plate 34 removed from t e heating element 46, which is carried. by arms 35. Spring-pressed contact brushes 40, in engagement with rin s 38 and 39, and mounted in a fixed insu ating block 41, are connected to circuit terminals 42 and 43. In Fig. 3, of the drawings, a portion of shaft 36 is shown in elevation to illustrate the cylindrical surface thereof. Contact rings 38 and 39, are connected by insulated wire conductors 44 and 45, to heating elements 46, which, when energized, will heat ironing plate 34. An electric switch 47, mounted on standard` 21, serves to control the circuit for energizing the heatingY elements 46.
Means for rotatin plate 34, consist of a motor 48, controlled a switch 49 mounted on handle 33, throng pinion 50 and gear 51, drives shaft .52, mounted in yoke 22. Shaft 52, through pinions 53, drives shaft 54 in movable arm 27. Shaft 54, through pinion 55 and gear 56, drives a vertical shaft 57, mounted in movable arm 27. Shaft 57, through pinions 58, drives a shaft 59, mounted 1n movable arm 26, and shaft 59, through inion and gear 61, drives shaft 36, thereliy rotating the ironing plate 34, while the operator manipulates the ironing head over the pressing buck 62.
The pressing buck 62, contains electric heating elements 63, the energizing circuit for which is controlled by switch 64, on standard 21. The pressing buck is operated vertically to and from the ironing head,being constructl ed with an extension passin downwardly through the table 23. A oot lever 66. pivotally mounted on shaft 67, in standard 21, is provided with a shiftable ulcrum member 68, in engagement with lever 69, which is pivotally connected with a movable arm 70, connected to extension 65. The arrangement allowing the buck to be raised on depressing lever 66.
'Referring to Fig. 7, the switches 47 and 64, may be manipulated independently, to control the respective electric circuits for energizing the heating elements in the pressing-buck and inthe ironing head, and the switch 49 may be manipulated to control the electric motor for operating the same independently of the heating elements.
In use, the garment to be pressed is placed upon or drawn over the pressingeluck, or on such portion of it as may be 't adapted for' pressing the garment. The electric heaters are energized for heating the pressing buck and the ironing head. Upon the garment being in position for pressing, the

In a garment press, the` combination with a stan ard and a table supported thereby, and pressing members above the table and movable relative to one another, one of the pressing members being disposed beneath the other, of a standard for the lowermost pressing member slidable relatively through the table, a lever pivotally connected to the pressing member standard and having its free end in contact with a fulcrum point on the main standard, a foot lever pivotally mounted in the main standard and having a longitudinally slotted shortI arm, a'fulcrum block adjustably secured to said short arm 4in said slot, and a link lever having one extremityv pivotally connected to the first-named lever and Ahaving its opposite extremity in engagement with the fulcrum block.
