Be it known that I, ALBERT S. MARTIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Burlington, in the county of Burlington and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful'Improvements in Automatic Fire Alarms; and I do declare the following 'to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to an improvement in automatic fire alarms and more particularly to a detonating fire alarm.
The object of the invention is to provide an automatic fire alarm, designed to be located in'a house or other structure in proximity to a light or lights, a stove or other place or location where a fire is likely to break out or start, which when exposed or subjected to the heat caused by a fire will detonate and alarm the inmates of the house or other structure and Warn them of the burned or the flames cause their death.
A further object is to provide an automatic fire alarm whichwill audibly notify or indicate the presence of a fire, when the heat of the fire becomes sufficiently intense to cause the operation of the same and allow time to turn in an alarm to the fire department.
A further object is to provide an automatic fire alarm which is simple, inexpensive and durable in construction, operates easily and which is safe and quick in its operation and accomplishes the desired result in a very satisfactory manner under all circumstances.
The invention consists in the several features and in the construction, combination and arrangement of such features as more fully hereinafter described and claimed.

In the drawings, in wh ch similar refer ence characters denote slmilar parts throughout the several views, 1 represents other suitable material, the part3 being the'main portion andthe part 4: being the e of allowing the fire to break or burn through it quickly, communicate with the interior of the casing and ignite or set off the detonating devices, shown 7 as firecrackers, of which there may be as many as are desired.
The firecrackers, 7, 8 and 9 are each provided with a paper string fuse 10, and are secured or mounted in a suitable carrier 11, 'made of metal or any other suitable material, which consists or comprises a base 12, soldered 'or otherwise secured to the part 3 of the casing, and provided with a plurality of substantially semi-circular resilient holders 13, 14 and 15 for the detonating devices or firecrackers.
The spaces 16 between the upper edges 17 the detonating devices or firecrackers are inserted such edges will spring apart and therefore will firmly hold or retain the detonating devices or firecrackers in place.
A celluloid or other highly inflammable ring 18 is provided made in two similar parts or pieces 19 and 20, each having an inwardly projecting lug 21 which abut against each other, placed within the main part 3 of the casing and extending adjacent to the strip of paper or other fragile material 6 which covers the apertures or holes 5, so that when the fire ignites this ring 18 it in turn ignites the fuses of the detonating devices or firecrackers and causes the detonating devices or firecrackers to explode.
The casing 2 is adapted to be secured to the ceiling of a house or other structure or the automatic fire alarm which comprises V a two'part casing 2, made of metal or any of the cassupport by means of a screw 22 secured to the rear side of the casing, or in any other desired manner.
Any desired number of the fire alarms may be placed in suitable locations in a house or other building to suit the different requirements of use.
I do not Wish to be understood as limiting myself to the specific details of construction and arrangement as herein described and illustrated, as it is manifest that variations and modifications may be made in the features of construction and arrangement, in the adaptation of the device to the various conditions of use, without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention and improvements. I therefore, reserve the rightto all such variations and modifications as properly fall Within the scope of my invention and the terms of the following claims hat I claim is 1. An automatic fire alarm comprising a casing having fire inlet openings therein, fragile material closing said openings, detonating means Within the casing and inflammable means associated With said detonating means.
2. An automatic fire alarm comprising a casing having a fire inlet opening, an inflammable closure for said opening, detonat ing means Within said casing and inflammable means between said inflammable closure and said detonating means.
3. An automatic fire alarm comprising a casing having a plurality of openings therein, fragile inflammable material closing said openings, detonating elements Within said casing having fuses adapted to be ignited When the inflammable material closing one of said openings is burned.
4. An automatic fire alarm comprising a casing having a series of fire inlet openings therein, a covering for said openings, a ring of inflammable material adjacent to said covering, a detonating element Within said casing adapted to be ignited by said inflammable ring and a holder for said detonating element. 7
5. An automatic fire alarm comprising a casing having a series of openings therein, an inside cover for said openings, a two-part inflammable ring Within the covering, detonating elements adapted to be exploded by the ignition of said inflammable ring and a resilient holder for said detonating ele-s ments.
6. An automatic fire alarm comprising a casing having a closure, means for attaching the casing to a support, said casing having a series of openings therein, an inflammable covering for said openings, a plurality of explosive elements supported Within the casing, said explosive elements having fuses and means for igniting said fuses when the inflammable covering for any one of said openings is burned.
