The light screen is adapted for application to any desired form of lamp and reflector'but it is particularly designed for vuse in anhautomobile headlight where the usual conical or parabolic reiiector- 10 is used and the electric bulb 11 dis osed at substantially the axialvcenter thereof? The base 12 of this bulb is formed with thel usual' locking in 413 which engages in the slots 14:v ofthe soc et 15 which supports the lamp in' position.
The screen 16 is adapted to be supported between the base of the lamp and the socket and comprises a semi-spherical portion 17 at the front-which is projected inward upon a curved line 18 at its upper edge so as to cover-and shield the direct raysffromthe outer portion of the lamp which would otherwise be ,projected u ward and outward to effect 'a glare o jectionable and dangerous to an app'roachin operator or pedestrian. The portion 16 o the screen is extended inward to form a supporting shank 19 which is provided with a series of 'securing apertures 20 any one of which may be fitted over the pin 13 from thelamp base in the adjustment of the screen into proper section with. the l Q rennen van ne tait. This Shank is inserted between the lamp base and its socket and thus takes up the usual slack or loose- This screen is formed of non-reflective` material as it has been found that a reective action therefrom materially a'eots the proper direction of the light rays in focusing the-lamp so as to dispose them in a horizontal lane within a fixed elevation as required regulations. ile the screen may be formed of s'olid material, it is preferably constructed of a translucent material, such as celluloid, and may be suitably colored to tone the light rays passing therethrou h, in which event the body 17 intercepts su cient of the direct rays to prevent a glare but also becomes an illuminated surface from which colored rays are projected to the reflector and are visible when 4viewing the lamp from the front. The disposition of this body or shield portion is such that the filament of lthe lamp is'not visible to an observer-from any angle when facing the rellector.`

Having thus described my invention, what I cla' as new and desire to secure by Letters atent is 1. A glare screen comprising a'body hav, ing a semi-spherical screen,anda supporting shank extended radially from the rear of said body and constructed to be intery most automobile lighting incasso posed longitudinally between the base of a lamp bulb and its socket.
2. A glare screen comprising a body hav-- ing a semispherical screen and a support?` ing shank extended radially from the rear of said body and constructed to be internallybetween the 'base of a lamp bulb and its socket, said screen bei-ng extended forwardly to partially enclose the front of a lamp bulb. l
5. A screen for a lamp bulb provided with a light intercepting body anda shank -formed for longitudinal insertion between the base of the bulb and .the inner face of its socket, and means upon said shank and Ybase for adjustably connecting the shankl thereto.
6. In a headlight redactor, the combination with a lamp and its socket having interlocking pin connection, of a screen provided with a shank adapted to be disposed"be. tween the lamp and the inner wall of the socket and provided with an aperture to fit over said pin.
7. .A screen for a headlight bulb comprising a semi-spherical body and a curved attaching shank to enter the bulb socket and provided with a circumferential series of apertures9 said screen being cutaway between said body' and shank to expose a material yportion of the bulb to the enclosing reilector.
