NECKWEAR-DISPLAYING DEVICE.

Application filed January The present invention relates to a neck wear displaying device and has for its principal object to provide a structure for sup porting neckwear to advantage so that the same may be shown to customers conveniently and to advantage.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of this nature which may be opened and closed readily and embodies asimple and efficient structure which is reli able in operation durable, particularly attractive, easily manipulated, inexpensive to manufacture, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.

lVith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description progresses, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed. I

Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that a base 1 is constructed with a central indenture 2 for receiving a rod 3 which extends vertically therefrom. A cylin drical casing i is disposed on the base 1 and extends vertically therefrom for housing the rod 3 and other elements to be hereinafter mentioned. A cover 5 is constructed with the cavity 6 in its bottom side and the central projection or knob 7. This cover is adapted to be seated upon the upper end of the cylindrical casing 4. riorly of the tube 3 so that the tube 8 may be held in an extended position as is indicated in Figure 4.

A necktie holder 11 is constructed from asingle strand of wire which is bent to provide a split ring 12 having a plurality of arms 13 radiating therefrom. The split ring 12 is disposed about the projection or knob 7 and fits in a groove provided thereabout as is indicated in Figures 5 and 6. The neclzties are hung from the radiating arms 13 as disclosed to advantage in Figure 7 and as indicated in Figure 1 when the device is in an extended or open position these neckties are displayedto advantage.

A pair of'receptacles 15 and 16 are dis- )osed on the tube 8 the larger receptacle 16 being mounted at the end thereof and the smaller receptacle 15 immediately thereabove. These receptacles 15 and 16 are constructed with the conical shaped bottoms 17 which are securely fastened to the tube 8. The receptacles 15 and 16 are of cylindrical formation and are preferably used for housing collars. An auxiliary inner receptacle 18 is constructed within the receptacle 15 for holding collar andculf buttons. It is desirable that these receptacles be covered interiorly with suitable material such as velvet for example. A ring 20 is disposed about the upper end of the rod 3 and has fixed thereto a pair of diametrically opposed handles 21. A similar ring 23 is disposed interiorly of the casing -1- in alignment with the ring 20 and is securely fixed to the interior of this casing and acts as a stop since the upper edge of the receptacle 16 will engage the same when the device is is in an extended position as shown in Figure t thereby pre venting separation of the inner member from the outer member.

It will be seen from the foregoing that in accordance with my present invention I provide a displaying device which will be especially useful in storing neckwear and at intervals displaying the same to customers. hen the device is in the closed position as shown in Figure 1 the cover 5 may be grasped by its outer knob and lifted thereby clearly displaying the neckties and the contents of the two receptacles. sired to close the device all that is necessary to do is to press downwardly upon the cover 5 which. will cause the spring pressed dog 9 to move inwardly. It is to be understood that this spring pressed dog has its exposed portion rounded so that this action may be readily accomplished.

The spring pressed dog 9 is shown to advantage in Figure 8 and is formed from resilient wire connected to plunger 30 actuated by the spring 10, this plunger being slid able through the member 31. When the cover pressed downwardly this dog will take the dotted line position shown in Figure 8 tensioning the spring 10 and the bottom l Tof the lower receptacle 16 will be released therefrom so that the tube 8 may be moved downwardly without further interference.

I have, in the present instance, shown and described the preferred. embodiment of my invention which will give in practice satisfactory and reliable results, and it is to be understood that the same is susceptible of modification in various particulars without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is l. A device of the class described including a casing, a cover for the casing having a cavity in its underside, a depending pro jection disposed centrally within tne cavity, a supporting device mounted on the projection including a split ring having arms radiating therefrom, said device being wholly within the cover.

A devlce of the class described 1ncludmg a casing, a cover for the casing provided with a cavity, a depending projection disposed within the cavlty and provided with an annular groove, and a supporting device including a split ring fitted within said groove and bent to provide a plurality of I arms radiating therefrom. v

3, A device of the class described, includ ing the combination of a casing, a rod mounted within said casing, a tube telescop ing over the rod and having a receptacle mounted thereon, a cover disposed on the end of the tube, a depending projection car ried by the cover and provided with an annular groove, a display device including a split ring fitted within said groove and having a plurality of radiating arms, and a ring disposed interiorly of the casing immediately adjacent the upper end thereof, said ring adapted to be engaged by the said receptacle to limit the upward movement of the said tube.

A device of the class described including the combination with a casing, a rod mounted within said casing, and a ring disposed interiorly of the casing immediately adjacent the upper end thereof, of a tube telescoping overthe said rod and having a receptacle mounted thereon, a cover carried by the upper end of the tube, a depending projection disposed within the cover and provided with an annular groove, and a display device fitted within the groove and being wholly enclosed by the said cover, said receptacle adapted to engage the said ring to limit the upward movement of the said tube.
