Description

J. MQNSON s'rmmass SPINNING TOY Filed August 13, 1925 ATTORNEYS.
Patented Aug. 10, 1926.
UNITED sTA;
' J'ONS MoNsoN, or NEW YORK, Y.
srENiLEss SPINNING TOY.
Application filed August 13, 1925. "Seria1 No. 49,925.
My object and purpose of this invention is to provide a stemless spinning toy, the edge or periphery thereof constituting the point upon which said stemless toy is to be spun.
Another object is to provide a plurality of resting bases which will oifer a great d1- versity of chances.
Another object is to provide a disc-shaped body thickest at its center and thinner at its edge or periphery.
Another object is to provide a stemless spinning toy either circular in circumference or having the edge or periphery divided into straight parts.
Another object is to provide a disc-shaped stemless spinning toy, which may be formed with a sharp, round or square periphery or edge, and the opposite sides of the toy having a ring of straight ridges at its edge. .These ridges and stemless centers on the opposite sides of said toy are for forming a plurality of resting bases upon which the toy may come to rest after being spun. These resting bases may be arranged directly opposite each other on the opposite sides of said toy, or said bases may be arranged alternate in position, if and when so desired.
Another object is to provide a stemless spinning toy, having game indicia arranged on the opposite sides.
\Vith these objects in view, together with others which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in the novel construction of a spinning toy, as will be disclosed more fully hereinafter, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings- Figure 1 is a side elevation of a stemless spinning toy embodying the invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view substantially upon line 11 of Fig. 1.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on lin 22 of Fig. 1.
Figure 4 is a side elevation of a slightly modified form of a stemless spinning toy.
Figure 5 isa section upon line 1A of Fig. 4, and
Figure 6 is a section upon linec5'5 of Referring first to Figures 1, 2, and 3 of the drawings, in the disc-shaped body illustrated in Figure 1 it will be noted that the stemless center 6, rises to a desired height, as best seen at 6, Figures 2 and 3,
the opposite sides having a ring of straight line ridges 3, and bevelled portions 7 forming said ridges 3, near the'periphery or edge 8, as best seen at 7 in Figure 3, and
Fig. 2 shows the rounded edge, or periphery arranged onthe opposite sides, and are forming the resting bases'of the toy; the resting bases may be opposite each other on the opposite sides or arranged alter nately, if so desired. Having specified Figures 1, 2, and 3 in detail, it should'be understood that both sides of my stemless spinning toy are alike and bear the indicia opposite the resting bases on its opposite sides.
Referring now to Figures 4, 5, and 6, it will be noted that a near similarity exists between Figures 1, 2, and 3, and Figures 4, 5, and 6, inthat the disc-shaped body is thickest at its stemless center, and thinner at its edge, or periphery, the opposite sides having a ring of straight ridges 3 at the edge, said edge being divided in straight.
parts, which. may be sharp, or square or the resting bases will be similarly arranged directly opposite, or alternately, as desired.
Having specified my stemless spinning toy as I desire it specified, and having pointed out that my stemlessspinning toy is thickest at its center and thinner at its edge or periphery, and that each side thereof is provided with a plurality of ridges and has a stemless center on its opposite sides for forming resting bases upon which the toy rests after being spun, I believe I have presented the specifications of my invention in a clear and comprehensive manner, and have titled my invention as a stemless spinning toy I have done so because a stem or shank is not required or desired.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A stemless spinning .toy comprising a solid circular disc-shaped body with conical sides having pointed stemless centers and a ring of straight ridges at the edge.
2. A stemless spinning toy comprising a solid circular disc-shaped body with conical sides having pointed stemless centers, a ring of straight ridges at the edge and game indicia on said body.
rounded, and on the opposite sides thereof 3. A stemless spinning toy comprising a disc-shaped body having conical opposite sides arranged concentric thereof, the marginal edge of said body presenting alternate rounded and beveled portions, the latter cooperating with the conical sides to form a resting base.
4. A stemless spinning toy comprising a disc-shaped body having conical opposite sides arranged concentric thereof, the man ginal edge of said body presenting alternate rounded and beveled portions, the latter cooperating With the conical sides to form a resting base, and game indicia on the sides of said body.
5. A stemless spinning toy comprising a disc-shaped body having conical opposite sides arranged concentric thereof, and pre senting an annular flattened portion at the base of said conical sides, the marginal edge of said body presenting alternately disposed rounded and beveled portion and game indicia within said flattened portion, said in dicia being disposed opposite the beveled portions and in line therewith and the apex of said conical sides When the toy is at rest.
6. A stemless spinning toy comprising a disc-shaped body having conical side portions disposed concentric thereof, and a fiattoned portion arranged at the base of said conical sides, the marginal edge of said body being rounded and formed into a plurality of separate chordal portions, Which latter cooperate With the apex of said conical sides to form a resting base.
7. A stemless spinning toy comprising a disc shaped body having conical side portions disposed concentric thereof, and a fiattened portion arranged at the base of said conical sides, the marginal edge of said body being rounded and formed into a plurality of straight-line edge portions, and game indicia within said flattened portion and disposed opposite said straight-line portions. v
In testimony whereof I have aflixed my name to this specification.
