FRAME HOLDER.

My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in a frame holder and has fork its object the provision of a device adapted for attachment to a window frame for engaging a screen frame to securely lock the screen frame in position on the window frame.
Another object of the invention isV the provision of a rockably mounted frame catch adaptedy for mounting on a window frame and fork engaging a screen frame and being rocked into a locking position to securely bind the screenframe 'in fixed relation to the window frame. Y
Another object of theinvention is the provision of a frame holderof the class set out herein, which will be simple in structure,
economical of manufacture, and highly efii-V cient in use.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
'Ihe invention will be `best understood from a reference to the accompanying drawings which form a part of this specification and in which Fig. 1 is a fragmentary perspective viewV of a window frame and screen frame showing the invention attached,

The invention is adapted for mounting on a window frame 7 and comprises a base plate 8, which is secured to the window frame 7 by screws or other suitablemeans. Projecting outwardly from the base is a boss having an inclined side 9 which is directed inwardly of the window, and provided with a flange 10, adjacent its upper end, the rear wall 11 of said boss being vertically extended to the base plate 8.
Projecting upwardly from adjacent the opposite end of the base plate 8 is a boss 12 having a reduced portion 13 for the reception of a washer 14, the reduced portion being riveted over the Vwasher to retain it in mounted position on the boss 12. Coiled about the boss 12 is a spring 15 having one end curved to form a hook 16, adapted to engage Vin a staple 17 projecting from a plate 18 which is secured to the screen frame 19. The opposite end of the spring 15 is formed in a U-shaped hook 20 adapted to engage, when in operative position, the wall 11 of the boss which projects from adjacent one end of the plate 8. In moving the hook 20 into engagement with the wall 11, the hook 2O rides over the inclined surface 9. A wear plate 21 is mounted upon the boss 12 and is formed substantially triangular shaped and secured at its apex 22 tothe wire 16.
In operation, the screen frame 19 is placed in the window frame and the hook 16 is engaged in the staple 17. The wire which coiled upon the stud 12 is then rotated, or
rocked, on the stud 12, so asl to move the hook 16 inwardly, so as to draw the frame 19 closer against the window frame 7. By continuing the movement against the tension, the resiliency of the wire coil andthe hook 2O may be engaged behind lthe boss, so as to engage the wall 11 and be thus securely locked in operative position. In this way, the screen frame 19 is securely locked against displacement from thel window frame 7 and as the hook 16 is moved rotatably to draw the frame 19 inwardly of the window frame 7, aV slight downward pressure is also exerted upon the screen frame 19, so as to lock it in close engagement with the sill of the window frame, thus assuring a tight connection at this place. The device may, of course be used to secure any frame desired.
`While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of structure, I do not wish t-o limitvmyself to the precise form of structure shown, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let- .ters Patent is:
1.v A. frame fastener of the class described adapted for mount-ing on a window frame for securing screen frame in assembled relation to said window frame, comprising a base; a c oil spring roclringly mounted on said base, one end thereof being elongated to provide a locking ar n, the opposite end beingextcnded to provide an engaging hook; an eyelet mounted on said screen frame for engaging' said hook; and means on said base plate for engagingsaid arm for locking said hook in engagement with said eyelet.

A frame fastener of the class described comprising a base adapted for mounting on a window fra-me; a boss projecting from said base; a coil spring rotzitablj7 mounted on seid boss` one end ot seid spring being elon- Lgated to provide a looking erin7 tlie opposite end of said Spring being extended to provide a hook for engaging an eyelet on a, screen traine; and ineens on Said bnse'for engaging seid locking erin for locking seid hook in engaging relation with Saidl eyelet.
