TOY WATER MILL.
Application filed July r, 1925. Serial No. 42,063.
This invention relates to mechanical toys and has for its primary object the provision,
in a manner as hereinafter set forth, of a water operated toy or wind mill, in which the water is led from a compartment in the upper portion of a building to and over a water wheel mounted at one side of the building. The water operating the wheel is caught in a tray positioned th-erebeneath which tray is removable so that the water caught thereby can be replaced in the reservoir located in the upper portion of the mill house topass over the wheel again.
The invention contemplates the provision is of a toy house formed with an upper and lower compartment, the upper compartment being water tight and adapted to be filled with water through the chimney of the house. Leading from this upper compar ment is a relatively small tube which eX- tends out and overlies a water wheel revolubly mounted at one side of the house. An enclosure is formed at one side of the house beneath the water wheel and this enclosure 2 is designed to receive a removable tray or pan which catches the water which passes over the wheel to operate the same and when filled this pan can be removed and the water therein poured back into the reservoir in the upper chamber of the house to pass through the same circuit again.
A further and final object of this invention is the provision, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, of a novel and attractive water operated toy which will be strong and durable, easily operated by a child, devoid of all features which would make it dangerous for use by a child, and inexpensiveto manufacture.
The invention will be best understood from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, with the understanding that the invention is not confined to any strict conformity with the showing of the drawings but may be changed and modified so long as such changes and modifications mark no material departure from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the appended claim.

Referring now to the drawings in detail wherein like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views there is indicated, generally by the numeral 1 a miniature building of substantial height and having the front and back walls 2 and 3, and the side walls t and 5 as is shown.
This miniature house is provided with a sloping or hip roof 6, in the central portion of which is positioned a chimney 7 which opens into the interior of the house.
Secured within the house and between the four walls thereof, is a partition or floor 8 which divides the building into an upper and lower chamber 9 and 10 respectively. This floor or partition 8 is secured to the four walls of the building in such a manner as to be water-tight so that the upper chamber 9 can hold a quantity of water.
At one side of the building 1, here shown as the side 4, there is constructed an enclosure indicated generally by the numeral 11. This enclosure comprises a bottom portion 12 which extends beneath the bottom of the house 1 and is secured thereto and extendingupwardly from the rear and side edges of this bottom 12 are the back and side portions 13 and 14 respectively of the enclosure. The side portion 14 of the enclosure, as shown clearly in Figures-1 and 2 extends a substantial distance beyond the front of the house 1 to, provide the extended tapered off portion 15. A brace member 16 is extended diagonally across the corner of the enclosure 11 between the side andback portions as is shown in Figure 2.
Journalled in and between the wall 4 and the side 14 of the enclosure is a revoluble shaft 17. carrying at its central portion the wheel 18 from the periphery of which the transversely positioned paddles 19 extend. Leading. from the chamber 9 in the upper cause the same to revolve.

For the reception of the water flowing over the paddle wheel 18, there is provided a tray or pan of substantial depth as indi cated at 22. This pan is a relatively long receptacle and is designed to fit into the enclosure 11, one end of the pan extending beyond the open front portion of the enclosure for easy removal therefrom.
It will be seen that upon pouring Water through the chimney 7 to fill the receptacle 9 the fluid Will flow through the tube 20 and falling upon the paddle wheel 18 will The WAtGI' PELSS- ing over the paddle Wheel Will be caught Within the pan 22 and when the same has been filled itcan be removed and the contents thereof poured back through the chimney 7 into the receptacle 9 to pass through the former course. v
Having thus described my invention What I claim is A toy of the character set forth comprising a miniature house, a floor partition within the upper portion of said house setting up a water chamber, an enclosure having' a rear Wall extending from the back wall of said house and aside \vall extending from said rear Wall transversely of the house and extended a substantialdistance beyond the front' thereof, a revoluble shaft extending transversely of said enclosure and having one end mounted in said house and the other end mounted in said side Wall, a paddle Wheel carried by said shaft, a' Water pipe leading from the interior of said cham her to and tern'iinating oversaid Whe8l,- and a removable receptacle positioned to receive water discharged over said Wheeland held in position therebeneath by-theside and rear walls of said enclosure and the end Wall of said house.
