SHADE ROLLER AND CURTAIN FIXTURE.
Application filed May 20,
The invention relates to window fixtures for supporting shade rollers, curtain poles and the like and has for its object to pre vent marring of the frame or casement and to provide a fixture which may be adjusted within certain limits to diti'erent widths, said fixture also being adaptable for single or double windows.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent and suggest themselves as the nature of the invention is understood.
lVhile the drawings illustrate an embodiment of the invention it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet different conditions and requirements, various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention.
referring to the accompanying dra vings forming a part of the application Figure 1 is a front view showing the application of the invention to a double window.
Figure 2 is a top plan view,
Figure 3 is an enlarged longitudinal sec tion of one of the members,
Figure t is a transversof a member,
Figure 5 is a detail yiew in perspective of an adjustable curtain rod,
l igure 6 is a detail perspective view of one form of curtain pole bracket, and
Figure 7 is a similar view of a modified form of bracket.
(hirresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and designated in the several views of the drawings by like reference characters.
The fixture when adapted for single windows comprises two similar members and when adapted for double window embodies three similar members as indicated most clearly in Figures 1 and 52 of the accompanying drawing In the adaptation for single windows, the middle member shown in Figures 1 and 2 is omitted, the other members being attached to the sides of the window frame or casement.
Each of the members comprises a base plate 1 of sheet metal which is provided upon its face with a longitudinal guide 52, formed by folding the metal on itself, as shown. in Figure 4-. The base plate 1 is of double thickness above guide 2, and the outer layer is cut out and has the side edges of the cut out portions bent away from the inner layer to form sockets 3, the latsectional view lSZ-t. Serial Nu. 7 3
ter being disposed adjacent the top edge of the plate and adapted to receive curtain fixtures. The plate 1 may be provided with openings 4 to receive screws or other fastening means whereby to attachthe plate to the window frame or casement. The plate may also be provided at its outer end with a recurved portion 5 which is preferably toothed to engage the edge of the window trimming and thereliiyobviate the use of screws, tacks, or like fastening means. Springs (3 are employed to draw the members together and hold the recurved end portions 5 in positive engagement with the window trimming. Hooks 7 at the inner ends of the plate 1 receive the ends of the springs 6 which are engaged therewith.
A shade roller bracket 8 is provided for each base plate 1 and is slidably mounted in the lon itudinal guide 2 and comprises a base portion 8 and an otlstanding portion 9, the latter having an opening to receive the journal of the shade roller in a manner well understood. A. catch 10 mounted upon the base portion 8 of the bracket is adapted to engage the teeth 11 of the plate 1 and hold the shade roller bracket in the required adjusted position. It is observed that the shade roller bracket may be applied to the base plate 1 so that the otistanding portion 9 may be located at either end of the plate 1 as found most advantageous. One of the mem hers is provided at its outer end with a ring 12 which provides convenient means for stretching the springs 6 when placing the 1st member in position when fitting the fixture to a window.
Curtain pole brackets 13 are adapted to be fitted in the sockets 3 and may be of different sizes and a hook 1% may be struck from each of the brackets 13 to engage and support a spring of the nature of the spring 6 and which is adapted to receive and support curtain lambrequin or other drapery. 'ihe curtain rod shown in Figure t comprises similar sections having sliding engagement and having the outer end of each bent and terminating in flanges 15 to engage selected sockets 3 whereby to retain the curtain rod in position when required for use. This adjustable curtain rod may replace the curtain pole brackets 13, or may be used jointly therewith if preferred.
It is to be understood that the members coi'nprising the fixture may be of any pre ferred construction and the middle member is in effect acombination of the two members designed for a single Window, since it performs the same office and is disposed between two Windows of a double or twin Window, as indicated most clearly in Figures 1 and 2.
WVhat is claimed is 1. A curtain fixture comprising a base plate having a longitudinal guide on its face formed by portions of the plate spaced from the longitudinal edges and folded on itself and serving to reinforce the plate and to provide attaching portions outwardly thereof, marginal sockets struck out from one of said portions to reinforce same and adapted to receive supplemental fixtures, and a shade roller bracket adjustable in the longitudinal guide.
2. A curtain fixture comprising a base plate having a centrally disposed longitudinal guide on its face formed by portions of the plate spaced from the longitudinal edges and folded on itself and serving to reinforce the plate and to provide attaching portions outwardly thereof, maginal sockets struck out from one of said portions to reinforce same and adapted to receive supplemental fixtures, said base plate having teeth along the bottom of the longitudinal guide, a shade roller bracket adjustable in the longitudinal guide, and a catch carried by said bracket and adapted to cooperate with the teeth of the base plate to hold the bracket in the required adjusted position.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
