FIG.
INVE/VTO/R WM W WITNESS/5 6.
-" NI'IED STATES PATENT CFFICE,
JOHN E. GAME, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN BOLTS FOR BlLLlARD-TABLES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 159,390, dated February 2, 1875; application filed September 14, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN E. GAME, of Boston, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improved Gapping of Bolt-Heads for Billiard-Tables, of which the following is a specification:
This invention is designed for bolts used to fasten the side rails of billiard-tables to the bed; and it consists of an ornamental removable shieldplate having a central opening for a fastening-screw, which is combined with a bolt having a central opening in its head to receive the fasteningscrew, and socket-holes to receive a span her-wrench, in such a manner that the said shield covers or conceals the bolthead.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying plate of drawings, in which Figure 1 holes a for the reception of a spanner-wrench to screw it into place. I) is a cap or shield plate covering the face 0 of bolt-head E, and attached thereto by the screw d, which passes through the center of the shield-plate b, and screws into thebolt-head E, all as plainly shown in Fig. 1. This cap I] may be made of any suitable material--as, for instance, pearl or ivorywhich will be ornamental, and impart a neat finish to the head of the bolt, and obviously, as it entirely covers the bolt-head, it conceals from view any defacement of the face of the bolt-head caused by setting the bolt in its place.
What I claim as my invention is-- The ornamental removable shield-plate I), having a central opening for a fastening-screw, d, in combination with a bolt, D, having a central opening in its head E, to receive'the fastening-screw d, and socket-holes a to receive a spanner-wrench, substantially as described, for bolting the side rail of a billiard-table to its bed, as set forth.
