Description

Patented July 27, 1 926,
OBLA JUVINALL, or DANVILLE, ILLINOIS.
i v em nen v BAIT CARRIER.
i n eri r 'fii sp be 3 25! WS l' 61123 Thi inven n deletes t ai ar ifi al a t carrier, and? the object of, the invention is the construction ofa, simpleand efiicient mrrier \Vith the foregoing and other objects in View, my invention comprises certain novel I constructions, combinations, and arrangei bodiment (Fig 4) I have shown only onements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and moreparticularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the drawings: i Figure 1 is a front plan viewot another embodiment of my bait carrier.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken on line 55', Figure 4- and looking in the direction of the arrows. Figure 3.is a rear plan View of the bait carrier shown in Figure l, with one of the pocket sections removed.
R ferring' to the drawings by numerals I designates an elongated flexible body that may be constructed from a single strip material such as leather, and which has its edges reinforced by turned over strips 2, both at its sides and ends. flexible body having reinforcing strips 2, and extending through one of the strips 2 is an eye lpthrougih, which is threaded a tying strin 5 which when the carrier is rolled is used to tielthecarrier in its rolled condi tion, for storing or transportation purposes.
In each pocket 3 and 3? is carried a separate bait; that is,one kind of artificial bait can he carried in one pocket and another kind in another pocket, and asis shown, as manypockets can be used or added to the carrier as is necessary to accommodatefas many kinds ofbait asare desired p Each pocket 3 isclo'sed at its ends and bottom and is open at its top. In the empocket 3 permanently attached to body 1, for theuser may only want a carrier with one pocket, but the carrier is more eflicient An elongated with a pluralityof pocketsgfland :I hav e illustrated a novelmetho'd of adding pocketsv p3 to ,the, carrieras -additionalkinds ofbait a @Qntsmpla ed DIW SQQ- Th ad so rarsnr lorries.
these detachable pockets; is accomplished byqjlf stening'one-endrof a plurality Off receiving tabs 6 tothe lower portioniof each Pocket to h inne fa of 111 7 pocket, and at its upper-edge, I fasten the inner end'of anchor tabs 7'; it is to be understood that the receiving tabs and anchor tabs are both fastened to the back orinner face of the pockets 3 Further, there is a set of receiving tabs 6 fastened'ito the lower part, and the inner face of the body 1 at pocket 3; these tabs 6that'areffastened to body 1, depending from the hody,as shown in the drawings. Each receiving tab is provided with av transversely extending elongated slot 8, into which slots 8 areinserted the arrowheadlike ends 9 of the anchor tabs 7.. When,
these arrowheads are in the slotted receivmg tabs 6, the section or sections will be efficiently fastened together, and can not be easily separated, only when the operator desires] By placin aseries (three shown in the drawings) vor receiving'tabs and an chor tabs on the device, 1n a'row or 1n alignment, the centers 0'1 the pockets are kept from buckling? orpuckering, which is of importance and possesses advantage 111 allowingthe sectional bait. carrier to be rolled ,up into a compact form or bundle, l
and then tied inits'rolled or closed positiouby thestring 5.
section can be added with easeand rapidity,
As hereinbefore suggested, as the oper' ator needs a new section to accommodate a new or added bait to his collect on, a
and by reason of all the structure bei ng,
oi flexible jinateria]. suchias leather, the entire device, when rolled or folded, will require comparatively little space for storage.
It isalso to be noted that I havepreferably provided a receiving tab and an anchor tab .near each end of each pocket-section, as
well asat the center, for the purpose hereinbei ore specified.
While I have describedthe preferred embodiment of my invention and illustrated the same in the accompanying drawings, certain minor changes or alterations may appear to one skilled in the art to which this invention relates, during the extensive manlUU i u'facture of the same, and I, therefore,"
reserve the right to make such alterations or changes as shall fairly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
It is to be understood that the receiving tabs 6 and the anchor tabs 7 constitute interlociring means, as Well as lacing means for detachably securing the sections of the device together in the specific and peculiar manner hcreinbetore specified.
.Vhat I claim is:
it In a device of the class described, the combination of a body provided with receiving tabs, a pocket provided with anchor tabs, and said anchor tabs adapted to interlock with said receiving tabs for fastening said pocket to said body.
In a device of the class described, the combination of a body provided with a plurality of depending slotted tabs, a pocketsection provided with a plurality of extending anchor tabs, and said anchor tabs adapted to extend through the slotted tabs for fastening said pocketsection to said body. 3. In a device of the class described, the combination of a body provided at one end with a central and end depending receiving tabs, each receiving tab provided with transverse elongated slots, a pocket-section provided with a central and end extending anchor tabs, each anchor tab provided with an arrowheaddike end, and said arrowheadlike ends extending through said slots for fastening said pocket-section to said body.
In testimony whereof I hereunto aiiix my signature.
ORLA E. JUVINALL.
