OF SALEIVI, OREGON.
FLOOR IPOLISHER.
Application filed January This invention relates to polishing devices and more particularly to the weighted floor polishing types, the primary object of the invention being to substantially improve and simplify the polishers now upon the market.
ln the attainment of this end, there is pro vided a weighted member, and a shell member for engagement over the weighted mem her, said shell member serving as a means tor clamping the polishing cloth around said weighted. member and in order that the edges ot the fabric will be housed from View.
An additional and important object is to provide simple means for securng the shell to the weighted member in order that the polishing cloth may be readily removed from and applied to the polishing device.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view as the nature of the invention will be better understood, the same comprises the novel 'l'orm, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.
In the drawing wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout both of the views:
Figure 1 is a perspective of my improved polisher.
Figure 2 is an enlarged transverse section through the polishing head and a portion of the n'ianipulating handle therefor.
Now having particular reference to the drawing, my novel polishing device constitutes the provision ot a relatively heavy weighted member 5, preferably of rectangular shape as shown, being formed with a marginal flange (3, at the lower edge thereof for providing a shoulder 7 entirely sin'round ing said member.
Adapted to be stretched'ovcr the bottom and sides of the weight is a polishing cloth 8, while adapted to be disposed over the top of the weight is a metal. shell 9 of a shape similar to the general shape of the weighted member, the lower edge thereof adapted for rest upon the shoulder 7 for eftectively clamping the cloth thereon, as shown in Figure 2.
Threaded within the weighted member 5, and extending upwardly therefrom at opposite sides are bolts 10-10 that are also threaded. at their upper ends tor the recep- 18, 1926. Serial No. 82,036.
tion or wing nuts ll11, these elements permitting oi the rigid attachment of the shell to the weight.
The shell 9 is provided intermediate the opposite ends thereoi with a pair of spaced ears l2-12 intern'iediate of which is pivotally secured the plate-like end 13 of a n'ianipulating handle 1% for the polisher.
It will thus be seen that l have provided a highly novel, simple, but yet highly efficient form of polishing device wherein the polishing cloth may be removed whenever necessary, and wherein the nature of the polisher such to permit of its manufacture at relatively low cost.
Such minor changes may be made as do not depart from the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent is 1. In a polisher of the class described, comprising a weight formed at its lower edge with a marginal flange for providing a shoulder, a polishing cloth adapted to be extended over the bottom and sides of said weight, a shell adapted to be disposed over tle top side of said weight for securing the cloth between said shoulder and the edge of said shell and means whereby the shell may be rigidly secured to the weight, and a handle pivotally connected to the shell.
2.111 a polisher of the class described comprising a weight formed at its lower edge with a marginal flange for providing a shoulder, a polishing cloth. adapted to be stretched over the bottom and sides of the weighted member, a shell adapted to be disposed over the top of said weight for securing the cloth between said shoulder and the lower edge ot' the shell, means for securing the shell on the weight, said means com prising a pair of bolts having their lower ends extending into the top of the weighted member, the upper ends of the bolts extending through the top of the shell, and nuts threaded on the upper threaded ends of the bolts and engaging the top of the shell, and a handle pivotally connected to the shell.
In testimony whereof I afiiX my signature.
