After the'j is fed on to the cylinder by the joint action of the two feed-rolls 13- and 15 rotating in the direction of the arrows shown'in Fig. 2.
The sheet 65 further depresses the fingers 25' to the position shown. in Fig.2 as the sheet is being-advanced to the cylinder 9. In this construction, the detector fingers 25 are forced backward by the leading edge of the sheet .65 until it'contacts with the front stops 20 and the fingers re main in this positionuntil the front-stops are lowered bythe'oscillation of theshaft 21- which lowers the 'arms'29 on which the fingers 25 are pivoted;.then the advancing edge "of'thesheet 65 passes over the tipsofthe fingers25 as they are swung clear of the path-of the sheet. ,Hence the'movement of the detector fingers 25 isfirst tilting of the fingers by the advancing sheet followed by a simultaneous movement of both fingers and stops out ofthe path of the sheet caused i by a lowering of the arms29.
