The present invention relates to an improved. pull member for cam sliders of the type employed withv flexible strips or stringers of spaced interlocking fastening devices. The present invention consists of a combined pull member and drag or brake lock. The improved member is swiveled for lateral movement and hinged for a limited vertical movement upon the slider. A latch is arranged between the pull member and slider for securing it in closed position and the side edges of the pull member arebrake raised slightly in position for a down-` ward pull upon the slider;

In the type of flexible closure to which the presentinvention relates, two iex1ble strips or stringere 1, 2 are formed attheir p vinner edges with beads vor thickened yportions 3 upon which a-re'secured interlocking fastemng devices.

The operating cam slider 'is preferably constructed as set forth in the above named patent of a back-plate and va fore-plate 21 mounted in spaced relation upon a binder post 22. The inner faces of the backplate and fore-plate'are provided with controlling grooves separated by a central guide rib 26. The riding lugs 15 of the fastening devices operate in the controlling grooves 25.

A centrally curved arm 38 projects from pull member over the swivel head 31 in position to en? gage the outer face of fore-plate 21vto limit the outward movement of pull member 35 and aii'ord a fulcrum engagement with the slider to control the angularposition of the slider upon the interlocking fastenin devices. The end of the pull member 35opposte its hinge connection with the swivel pin is recessed at 40 to receive a spring snap 41 projecting outwardly from the fore-plate 21 at its lower edge. This vspring snap 41 latches the pull member in closed posltion aginst the face of fore-plate 21 of the sl1 er.
It will also be observed that the present invention provides a combined ull member and drag or brake for locking t e slider upon two series of interlocked fastening devices. Referring to Fig. 3, it will be understood that to move the slider downwardl for unlocking the fastening devices, a pnl in the direction of arrow m While exerting slight outward pressure in the direction of arrow y will effectively .mo-ve the shder downwardly over the locking devices with the least resistance. For interlocking the fastening devices, the pulll member 35 is moved from the position shown in Fig. 3 into reversedv position asshown 1n Figs. 5 and 6, the swivel connection with the 'slider rmitting this reversal. will move the slider upwardly "to cause the interlocking of the fastening devices. In both .these unlocking' and locking movements, it will be understood that theengagement of the arm 38 with the outer -face of the slider will give an effective leverage control of the angularposition of the slider u i1 the fastening devices to prevent digging in or improper interference between the arts. P While the yfulcrum member 38 is shown projectin centrallyv from the hinge of the pull mem r 35, it is obvious that the same result can be accomplishedy by lforming, a
suitable heel or projection from any part of .the hinge of the pull member to limit the outward movement of the pull member upon the slider and afford the leverage control ofv the slider when it is operated. s
The provision of the universal joint connection of the pull member with the slider, whereby the hinged end of the pull member swivels 'or rotates laterally upon the slider is so arranged that the hinged-end'of the pull member will not project beyond the sidesof the slider, so that there Vwill be no chance of interference or engagement with the stringers or material to which the stringers Vare attached.
I claim l 1. In a flexible closure or fastener, the combination of fiexible strips or stringers having spaced interlocking fastening dev1 ces, and an operating slider embracing and sliding upon said fastening devices, with a combined pull member and drag or brake having universal joint connection with said slider.
2. In a fiexible closure or fastener, the combination of flexible strips or stringers having spaced interlocking fastening devices, and an operating slider embracing and sliding upon said fastening devices, with a pull member pivotallyvmounted upon said slider and formed with side fianges arranged to project over the slider sides and engage said fastening devices.
3. In a flexible closure or fastener, the combination with flexible strips or stringers having 'spaced interlocking fastening devices, an `an operating slider embracin and sliding upon said'fastening devices, wit a pull member pivotall mounted upon said slider and formed wit side flanges which project over the edges of the slider in osition to frictionally engage the exposed aces of the fastening devices to constitute a drag or brake lock.
4. In a. flexible closure or fastener, the 'combination with flexible strips or stringers having' spaced interlocking fastening devices, and an operating slider embracing and having spaced interlocking fastening \de vices, and an operating slider embracing and sliding upon said fastening devices, with a swivel pin mounted in said slider, and a pull member hinged to said swivel pin.
6. In .a liexible closure or fastener, the combination with flexible strips or stringers having spaced interlocking fastening devices, and an operating slider embracing and sliding upon said fastening devices, with a swivel pin mounted'in said slider, and a pull member having a limited hinged connection with said swivel pin to provide for freel lateral movements of the pull member into positions above and below said pin and for limited movements toward and away from said slider.
v 7. In a fleirible'closure or fastener, the. combination with flexible strips or with a.v
hinged connection with said slider, and a fulcrum arm projecting from said hinge in position to engage the face of the slider for limiting the hinge movement of the pull l member and affording leverage control of the angular position of the slider.
8. In a flexible closure or fastener, the
combination with flexible strips 'or stringers having spaced interlocking fastening devices, and an operating slider embracing and sliding upon said fastening devices, with a pull member reversibly swivelled upon said slider and formed with a fulcrum arm projecting from the swivel in position to engage the face of the slider.
