G. RATTI GOGGLES Filed'MarGh 26l 1925 be provided with ipr, 27, .1926.
unirse sAfrEs GUSEPPE'RATTI, OF TURIN, ITALY. v
GoGeLns.
Application led March 2'6, 17925. Serial No. 18,567'.
To all 107mm t may concer-i1:
ileA it known that l, @unseren- Rirr'ri, 2L subject of the fing of italy, residing it rlhuiin, italy, have invented certain new and uselul lln'ii'irovenients in Goggles, ot'V which the ifollowing is e speciiicetion.
it is' irnoin that goggles or eye screens used by niotorists and the like for protecting the eyes against the ect-ion or nir streergis :ind foreign inetters und comprising gloss screens arranged in e. freine which ifollows the configura-tion of the orbital cavity, inust ineens tor the circulation ot air in the space they enclose around each eye.
The present invention has for its object en arrangement for the seid purpose, said errengeinent comprising ineens which prov to :for e sufficient but not objectionablev air circulation in the space enclosed around the eye und prevent at the seine time the entry ot foreign n'ietters in seid space.
According to the present invention the rigid tronic carrying euch glass screen ot' the goggle is provided on its edge intended to contact with the wearers fece orbital cavity with u lining consisting of e sott materiel tube, the well ot said tube having sets oi' pertoretions e number of which open in the atmosphere while other ones open in 'the space enclosed eround the eye by said freine und screen, seid sets oit perforation being staggered with respect to each other.
' On the annexed drawing is illustrated an embodiment oit the present invention and vFigure l is the front view ot a goggle nccording to the present invention; Figure 2 e pien view ot lthe seine.
As shown on said drawing the goggle coinprises two 'ran'ies l, euch having in its 'front portion a glass screen 2, which are interconnected by e vbrit ge piece 3 adapted to be positioned on the nose ot the wearer. Said frames have et their side portions hooks 4 or the like :tor attaching thereto the elustic bends or the like intended to support the goggle on. the weerers heed.
On the rear edge ot each freine l, that is on its edge intended to contact with the weerers tace, is 'fastened u ring 5 consisting ot e tube, preferably e rubber tube, which provides e soft lining bearing on the weerers fece around his orbital cavity.
Esch of said rings 5 is divided into two separate sections lll-10' by partitions 6 ero und his f and in the wells of thetwo portions vof tube et the sides of eech partition are provided ports 7 leading to atmosphere sind ports 8v openingA into the space lwithin the freine l and ghiss screen 2.
llie ports 'i' and S are provided in spaced portions ot each tube section lO-iO und between the said spaced portions where the ports 'T and S ure provided, ure arranged pervious plugs 9 of cotton or siiniler fibrous materiel.
ln use, when the goggle is in position on the wenrers tace, eecli'tube ring 5 with its respective freine i. and screen Z, encloses around each wearers eye u space into which sir n'iey flow only 'frein outside through ports 7 und then through ports 8 of each tube section, seid eir having to tlow through Athe interinedizite plug 9 ot fibrous or filtering nuiteriul; therefore nir enters slowly in seid space without producing an objectionable :igiteion in the air enclosed in the space between the freine und screen end eye, and it cannot carry any foreign metter into the seine.
he space between euch eye and the corresponding` freine 'l and screen 2 is thus sui'liciently aersted without the leir circulation produced in the saine being objectionable. Y y
That I clziini us my invention and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:--
1. A goggle or eye proteitor, comprising, for euch eye, s tunic, 2i screen in the front portion of seid freine, ineens for support ing seid irfiines on the weurers head, e ring nitide e tube ofi? soit materiel on the edge ot said 'iruine itor contacting;V w`th the weuiers ieee, seid tube having, in .its well, ports opening to atmosphere end ports opening to the space enclosed around the eye ot the wezirer und spaced Jiroin the ports opening to atmosphere.
2. A. jgle or eye protector, comprising, 'for euch eye, e treme, e screen in 'the trout portion o' said lr-eine, ineens tor supportingl seid trames on the weerers head, s ring. unido ot a tube o'i sott ineteriul on the edge ot seid 'traine 't'or contacting with the weurers tace, partitions in seid tube dividing it into seperate sections, each tube section having ports in its wall which open to atinospliere and ports spaced from the first named ports end opening to the space enclosed around the eye of the wearer.
3. A goggle or eye protector, comprising, for each eye, a frame, a screen in the front portion ot said traine, ineans for support ing said frames on the Wearers head, a ring made or a tube otsot material on the edge of said 'trame for contacting` with the Weare'rs face, plugs of iltering material in said tube dividing it into separate sections, some of the sections having ports in their Wall which open to atmosphere, and others of the sections having ports in their Wall opening into the space enclosed around the eye of the wearer.
VA goggle or eye protector, comprising, for each eye, a frame, screen in the front portion orn said frame, means for supporting said frames on the Wearers head, a ring made of a tube of soft material on the edge of said traine Jfor contacting with the Wearers face, partitions in said tube dividing it into separate sections, each tube section having a set of ports in its Wall which opens to atmosphere and a set or' ports spaced 'from the first named eet and opening into the space enclosed around the veye or" the wearer, and a plug of iltering material in each tube section intermediate the two sets ot' ports ot the section. Y l
ln testimony whereof l have signed my naine to this specilication GIUSEPPE BATTE.
