Description

April 27, 1926'.
W. T. TUTEN HAT RECEPTACLE AND PRESS Filed June 1925 Patented Apr. 27, 1926.
* UNITED STATES- WILLIAM '1. TUTEN, OF ORLANDO, FLORIDA.
HAT RECEPTACLE AND PRESS.
Application filed June 22, 1925'. Serial" No. 38,?47.
T all whom it may concern."
Be it known that I, TILLIAM T. TU'rnN, a citizen of the- United States, residing at Orlando, in the county of Orange and State of Florida, have inventedcertain new and useful Improvements in a Hat Receptacle and Press, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to a receptacle for holding a hat, and at the same time pressing it and maintaining it in its proper shape. r
The principal object of the invention is to provide a receptacle of this nature having a rim press therein which is reversible so as to hold in proper position within the press either a curled rim or brim or a straight fiat rim.
Another important objectcof the invention is to provide a receptacle of this natwo which is exceedingly simple in its construction, strong, durable, inexpensive to manufacture, easy to manipulate, not likely to easily become out of order, and otherwise well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
lVith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in cer tain novel features of construction,- and in the combination and arrangement of parts as willbe hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing Figure 1 is alongitudinal vertical section through the device embodying the features of my invention,
Figure 2 is a plan view of the lid, and Figure 3 is a plan view of the rim press. Referring to the drawings in detail it will be seen that the receptacle is indicated generally by the numeral 5, and includes a crown receiving portion 6, a rim 7 provided with a continuous flange 8 extending therefrom in an opposite direction to the crown portion 6. A lid 9 is hinged to the flange 8 as at 10, and has a continuous flange 11 which is adapted to fit over the flange 8 when the lid is closed as is indicated in Figure 1. The lid is adapted to be held in a closed position by a suitable hasp 13,
about so that the plate body 16 is disposed between the edges thereof. As will be seen from an inspection of Figure 1 this plate body 16 is closer to one edge of the rim 17 than the other when the rim press is disposed as in Figure 1 to adapt it to receive the brim of a hat where'said brim is curled. If this press is reversed, it is adapted to receive a straight brim. Tabs 18 are mounted on the central portion of the body 16 so that the same may be easily lifted out of the flange 8 when the hat is to be removed, or a hat is to be placed in the receptacle.
It is thought that the construction, utility, operation, and advantages of this invention will now be clearly understood and appreciated without a more detailed description thereof. It is desired however, to point out that numerous changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangementof parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described my invention, wh at 35 I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A receptacle of the class described including a body, a hinged lid on the body, and a rim press receivable in the body and held in. place by the lid and comprising a plate body having 5' rim of continuous tormation disposed about the edge thereof.
9.. A receptacle of the class described including a body, a hinged lid on thebody, and a rim press receivable in the body and held inplace by the lid and comprising a plate body having a rim of continuous-formation disposed about the edge thereof, said plate being disposed a distance from the edges of the rim.
3. A device of the class described including a receptacle body having a crown porcloser to one edge of the rim than the tion a plate portion about the crown porother, tabs on the plate body, and a hinged i tion, and a flange about the plate portion, lid on the body of the receptacle. 10 a rim press receivable in the flange to en- In testimony whereof I aflix my signagage the plate portion and comprising a ture. plate body having a continuous rim disposed thereabout, said plate body being situated WVILLIAM T.
