To all whom it may concern-k Be it known that we, Biennium LUTsKY and SIMON Knnrssnnc, both citizens of the United States, and residents of the borough of Brooklyn, county of Kings, city and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Liquid- Dispensing Faucets, of which the following is a specification sufficient to enable those skilled in the art to which the invention appertains to utilize the same.
Our improvements relate to the class of liquid supply faucets, designed primarily for the dispensing of beverages, in which areceptacle,- such as a drinking glass or the like, is utilized as a means of actuating the parts by which the valve is opened to effect thefidischarge of the required liquid,-tlre valve being closed automatically upon the removal of said receptacle; and are designed to 'aiford a'fsimp le, compact and effective combi nation and arrangement of parts whereby these results are attained under sanitary conditions, and whereby ample provision is mate for adjustment and regulation of flow, all 'as hereinafter'fully set forth, the invention consisting in the specific construction of faucet and component parts thereof described and claimed.
The accompanying drawings illustrate a practical em'loodini'en'tofIthe essential features of the invention in a dispensing faucetof the'char'acter designated, although we do not limit. ourselves to the identical form and construction of component parts herein shown by way of exemplification, since changes may be. made in minor details, and equivalent mechanical jeiipedients resorted to, with like'results, and without departing from the spirit and intent of our invention in this respect.
With this understanding Fig. 1, represents a. side elevation of our improved liquid dispensing faucet in normal position;

The base of the service bracket pipe B, is ada'ptedfor attachment to a connection with a source of supply of the liquid to be dispensed, its upper extremity being screw threaded for unitaryengagement with the head piece or casing A, in which the supply duct a, and outlet port a, are located, as shown more particularly in Fig. 4i, of the drawings, the area of communication between said ducta, and said port a, being prescribed and regulated by means of an adjustable screw o. Thatis to. say, the inner lower endof said screw a is interposed bctweensaid supply duct a, and said outlet port a, so, that it functions to limit the How of liquid to and tl'irou'gh said port a.
The upper end of this adjustable screw 0%, is nicked for engagement with a screw driver or like manipulative implement, and is enclosed and protected by a screw cap a.
The under side of the head casing A, is recessed to Tform a valve chamber a below and communicating with the. outlet porta, and this"-recess is female screw threaded for the reception vof the male threadedup per extremity of the spout member S, thereby uniting said'spout S, integrally with the head casing A. The upper portion of the spout S, is formed with a snouldercd recess 8, for the reception and support of an annular rubber or equivalent packing s, which constitutes thesea-t'for the valve V, the stem o,of which is rnalcscrew threaded at its lower extremity for engagenieut'with a corresponding female screw thread formed the cylindrical nozzle N, the upper portion of which latter fits within the cylindrical recess 8 in the lower portion of the spout Interposed between a shoulder n the spout S, and the upper end of the nozzle N, a coiled spring 8 which tends constantly to press the nozzle N, downward with its external annular conoidal shoulder 11-, in con tact with the arms 131, of the loop cam 1*, forming an integral part of the rock lever B. T he upper, and otherwise solid portion of the nozzle N, is formed with a plurality of convergent ducts n, n, which establish communication between the pressure chamher id, in the spout S, above the upper end of the nozzle N, and its discharge passage a.
The biiurcated upper end of the rock lever B, is pivotully supported upon the head casing A, by fulcrum screws 7', 7", upon and by which said rocl: lever B, is suspended, and is retactible against the resistance of the spring a, acting through the medium of the nozzle member N, and its conoidal shoulder a,-t-he upwardly curved side arms 1, r, of the said loop cam 2", during such retrao tire movement of the rock lever forcing the nozzle Tl, uliward against the resistance of said spring a, and therel'z raising the valve V, from its seat a, and admitting liquid to the pressure chamber c -this retraetile movement of the rock lever B, being lilnited by the end (P) of the loop cam, as indicated in Fig. 2, of the d'awings.
lVhen the rock lever It, is released from extraneous pressure, as by the withdrawal of the drinking glass G, or equivalent liquid receptacle, the operative parts are again returned to normal positions by the. spring 8, which thus functions in a double capacity, i. e. as a valve closer and manipulative lever control.
The lower extremity of the said manipulative rock lever R, is also bifurcated to form a concave terminal hearing for contactual engagement with the convex sides of the receptacle G, and this bearing 9", is preferably provided on its concave surface with bullers r, '1', of soft material.
The lower end of the 'alve stem '0, being screu threaded, and thus adpistable upon the nozzle member N, it is obvious that the play of the valve V, with relation to its seat a, may be regulated with accuracy according to requirements; and this feature, in conjunction with the regulation of inlet area by the adjustable screw a aiiords ample variation tor all practical purposes of adaptability to circumstances and conditions of use of our liquid dispensing faucet, con sidered in a unitary sense.
Furthermore, our device is not only essentially automatic and sanitary in operation, but is also simple and compact in structure, and conveniently accessible for purposes of cleansing or renewal of parts.
What we claim as our invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a liquid dispensing l'aucet of the character designated, the combination of a spout member, formed with a valve seat, a nozzle member slidably mounted within said spout member, a *alve adjustably mounted on said nozzle member, a coiled spring intcrposed between said nozzle member and said spout member, and a manipulative rock lever formed with cam means, engaging with Stlltll slidable nozzle member, substantiaily in the marine and tor the purpose .:et forth.
In a liquid dis 'icnsng faucet oi the character designated, the combination of a spout member formed with avalve seat, means for regulating the flow of liquid thereto, a nozzle member slidably mounted within said spout member, a valve adjustably mounted on said nozzle member, a coiled spring interposed between said nozzle member and said spout member, and a manipulative rock lever formed with cam means, engaging with said slidable nozzle member, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set torth.
3. In a liquid dispensing faucet ot the character designated, the combination of a spout member formed with a valve seat, means for regulating the flow of liquid thereto, a nozzle member slidably mounted within said spout member, a valve adjustably mounted on said nozzle member, a coiled spring interposed between said nozzle member and said spout member, and a manipulative rock lever formed with a cam loop for engaging with said slida-ble nozzle member, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
