Be it known that I, ALANsoN P. BRUSH, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Manifold Constructions for Internal-Combustion Engines, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
It is the object of the invention to obtain a manifold eonstruction'in which the liquid fuel which drops out of suspension in the intake will drain into a pocket within the exhaust manifold, Where it will be vaporized and returned to the intake. The invention, therefore, consists in the construction and combination of intake and exhaust manifolds as hereinafter set forth.

A is the exhaust manifold of an internal combustion engine, which is provided with a central depending outlet portion B. C is the intake manifold having the portion thereof adjacent to the carburetor (not shown) arranged in front of the portion 13 of the exhaust manifold. As shown, this portion D of the intake manifold has an angle-bend 1*] therein and adjacent to this bend an inwardly opening port F, which communicates with an otherwise closed chamber G within the exhaust inanifoldand preferably formed integral therewith. intake manifold may be of any suitable construction, but as shown the vertical portion K thereof is in the form of a venturi, the effect of which to thoroughly commingle the ingredients of the explosive mixture before distributing the same to the separate branches leading to the engine cylinders What I claim as my invention is:
1. The combination with an exhaust manr fold having a central depending outlet portion, of a pocket formed in said outlet portion separate from the exhaust passage with a port opening to the front, an intake manifold having an angling portion with a port adjacent'to the angle registering with the port in said pocket, and means for clamping said intake manifold to said exhaust manifold.
2. The combination with an exhaust nianifold and an inlet manifold having a hori zontal inlet portion, a vertical outlet portion leading therefrom, and an angling portion therebetween, a pocket within said exhaust manifold and extending transversely of said inlet. manifold, the bottom of said pocket lying in a horizontal plane only slightly below the horizontal portion of said inlet manifold, and a downwardly sloping passage connecting the angling portion of said intake conduit with'said pocket, whereby liquid fuel falling out of suspension will drain into said pocket and will be returned as vapor to the intake.
