COMBINED SQUEEZER AND BEVERAGE SHAKER.

Squeezcrs and Beverage Shakers, of which I the following is a specification. I This invention relates to combined beverage shakers and lemon squeezers and my improvement is directed to means whereby the squeezer element may be capable of removable placement in the device, so that it can be conveniently removed therefrom for cleansing purposes.

In devices of this kind simplicity in the structural form of the parts employed is paramount, to the end that they may be easily put together and taken apart, and particularly that the individual parts have no joints or crevices likely to collect and retain particles of matter.

Therefore the squeezer element of my improved structure is provided with an annular flange to fit Within the usual hood or shaker top, said flange and top having mutual interlocking means of such character that said parts may, when apart, be

' thoroughly cleansed in the ordinary washing and drying operations.

Other features and advantages of my invention will hereinafter appear.

In said views let 1 indicate the usual vessel or container element of a beverage shaker, 2, the hood or cover portion that is adapted to fit over the mouth of vessel 1 as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, when employing the device as a shaker, and which can be removed or inverted in vessel 1 when said hood is to be used as a receptacle for the juices of fruits. As usual the hood 2 has a cylindrical end 3 provided with perforations shaker having a removable hood of a 4, for pouring purposes, and iscovered by a removable cap 5.

The squeezer element is composed of a fluted dome 6 and an annular flange 7, said dome and flange being shaped from a single piece of sheet material and its flange diameter being of such extent that said flange will fit fairly snugly within the hood, in a plane near the mouth of said hood.

It is of course understood that the hood is to be inverted and fitted within the mouth of vessel 1 when the pieces of citrus or other fruits are to be squeezed, the dome '6 then extending upwardly and the cap being removed so that the juices mayflow into the vessel.

The particular inventive feature herein resides in the means whereby the squeezer element is held in removable engagement with the hood.-

Thus, the hood is provided with opposed protuberances 8, 8 on its inner surface, formed as by indenting the material of the hood from its outer surface. Also, the flange 7 is provided with opposed, periph eral recesses 9, 9, which serve. as clearances that enable the squeezer flange to be entered within the hood beyond said protuberances; and then, upon giving a partial turn to the squeezer element, to bring nonrecessed portions of the flange behind the protuberances, thereby the squeezer element becomes locked against displacement untilagain turned to register the recesses with the protuberances.

The flange 7 is cupped or dished at its side from which the dome extends to collect the juices being expressed and is provided with perforations 10 for passage of the juice therethrough.

Variations within the spirit and scope of my invention are equally comprehended by the foregoing disclosure.

I claim:

1. The combination with a beverage shaker having a removable hood of a' able in said hood, the wall of said hood being provided with inward protuberances,

and said flange having opposed peripheral recesses to pass said protuberances, thereby enabling the flange to engage behind said protuberances in a partial turn of the squeezer element. I

2. The combination with a beverage squeezer element comprising a fluted dome and a flange surrounding said dome, said flan 'e being dished and provided with perfbrations, and said flange being snugly and removably insertable in said hood, the wall of said hood being provided with inward protuberances and said flange having opposed peripheral recesses to pass said protuberances, thereby enabling the flange to engage behind said pr'otuberances in a par tial turn of the squeezer element.

3. The combination with a beverage shaker having a removable hood of a squeezei' element, and means co-acting between the wall of said hood and the peripheral edge of said squeezei' element whereby the sque'ez'er element may be i'emovabiy engaged within said hood.
