ATTACHMENT FOR STACKER TEETH.
Application iled June 12, 1925.

Be it known that I, HANS L. SoNDnRUr, a citizen of the United States of America, and
resident of St. Paul, in the county of How- Y ard and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Attachments 'for Stacker Teeth, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to agricultural implements, and particularly to improvements in stacker teeth, the said invention having for an object the provision of novel means for holding material on the stacker tooth while it is being operated to elevate the load or to otherwise carry it.
It will be understood that the invention is applicable to stacker teeth which are intended for use in moving hay, straw and other stalks, and as the inventor does not wish to be limited, of course, with respect to its use, in the further description of the invention it will be referred to as operatingon hay, which term is intended to include any of the loads which stacker teeth are intended to transfer.
As a unit embodying the invention will be associated or applied to the end of each stacker toot'h, a description of one of the units will suiiice as a disclosure of the invention for the understanding of one skilled in the art.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists in the details of construction, and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully set forth and claimed.
In describing the invention in detail, ref erence will be had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this application wherein like characters denote corresponding parts in the several views, and in which- Figure 1 illustrates a view in side elevation of a fragment of a stacker tooth with a device embodying the invention applied thereto;
Figure 2 illustrates a longitudinal sectional view with the guard elevated;

prises a plate 6 with side flanges 7 and 8 which embrace the stacker tooth near its outer end, and it may be secured thereto by fastenings 9 such as rivets or the like that extend transversely through the flanges and the stacker tooth. At the outer end ofthe prong` the plate is looped and terminates in an inclined end 10 which lies onbeveled ends of the flanges 7 and 8 to provide an inclined surface over which hav is moved when applied to the stacker tooth.
As a means for preventing` dislodgment of the hay from the stacker tooth when the stacker tooth is being moved, a guard 11 is pivoted between the flanges 7 and 8 `near their outer ends, thesaid guard having its outer end lying under the inclined end 10. The guard includes flanges 12 and 13 which are mounted on a pivot 111 at the outer end of the guard and the guard is capable of oscillating from the position in which it is shown in Fig.`2 to the position in which it is shown in Fig. 3, the purpose being that when hay is being delivered to the tooth the pressure incident to the application of the hay to the tooth will cause the guard toassume the position in which it is shown in Fig. 3. whereas when the hay has passed the guard, it will assume the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2, in which position it will prevent the hay from being dislodged from the end of the toothr It will be understood that the weight of the hay and pressure incident to its delivery to the tooth will depress the guard, and, in the present embodiment of the invention, as a means forV returning the guard to the position in which it is shown in Figs. 1 and 2, springs 15 have their ends anchored to the pivot 14 and to a member 16, which latter is movable in slots 17 and 18 formed inthe flanges 7 and 8, respectively. As here illustrated, the member 16 comprises a rod or bolt 19 having a bushing 20, which bushing rotates as it travels in the slots 17 and 18 and the springs 15 have their ends connected to the bushing.
