Description

R. FOLKEL s'rov CLEANER Oct, 6, 1925.
Filed arab 14. 1925 guna-tot Sum nu' Patented @et 6, 1925.
UNITED STATES BOBERTFOLKEL, 0F HEREIN, ILLINOIS.
STOVE CLEANER.
Application fllet. March. 14, 1925. Serial Nov 15,512.
To all whoml t may concern.'
Be it known that I, ROBERT FoLxEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Herrin, in the count-y of Illilliamson and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Stove Cleaner, of which the following is a specification.
The presentdevice relates to a stove cleaner or scraper and has for its principal object to provide a device of this nature which is eflicient in removing soot, ashes and the like out of kitchen ranges, heating stoves, etc.
Another important object of the inventionis to provide a cleaning device or scraper of this nature which possesses a very simple structure which will be thoroughly reliable in use, inexpensive to manufacture, strong, durable, and well adapted for the purposeA for which it is designed.
Another specific object of the invention is to provide a scraper blade which is formed from a single sheet of material such as metal.
Vith the abo-Ve and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and lin the combination' and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of the4 cleaning device yembodying the `features of my invention,
Figure 2 is an elevation of the scraper blade, and
Figure 3 is a plan view showing the blank from which the scraper blade is formed.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the scraper blade is formed from a blank as shown in Figure 3 of a single sheet of material, preferably sheet metal. This blank has an oblong formation and is bent along its medium longitudinal dimension as indicated by the dotted line l so as to form the base plate 2 and the perpendicularrear wall 3. The ends of the base plate 2 are bent upwardly perpendicularly as at 4: while the ends of the wall 3 are bent at right angles thereto so as to form sides 5 extending forwardly over the end margins of the base plate, and the terminals of which are flared outwardly as at 6. The ends 4 are disposed outside ofthe sides 5 and pre.
vent these sides from spreading. The ends 4f., if desired, may be secured to the sides 5 in irliy'f suitable manner such as by'solder or the 1 te. f
A handle bar 8 is fixed to the transverse median line of the base plate@ and terminatesin'the handle loop 9.
With this simple little device it will be seen that soot and ashes may be easily cleaned from a range or stove. It will also be apparent that the device possesses a Very simple structure which may be manufactured at a low cost and yet be strong and durable. The present embodiment of the invention has been disclosed in detail merely by way of example and it is apparent that numerous changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is A cleaning device of the class described including a scraper blade formed with a rectangular base plate, and a perpendicularly extending rear wall, and ends disposed over the rear and end margins of the base plate, said ends projecting forwardly of said base plate and having flared terminals, and a handle iixed to the base plate and extending forwardly therefrom.
In testimony whereof I aliix my signature.
