Be it known that ALFRED ROZOWSKY, citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, in the county of Kings and State of New York, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Candy Packages, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to folding boxes or cartons, and mor particularly to that class of boxes or cartons designed as an economical container for candy and other articles offered for sale.

One object of the invention is to provide an attractive box or carton which may be sold to children as a candy package containing candies and toys, and which shall simulate the appearance ofan automobile.

A further object is to provide a box or carton which is made from a single blank of paper, card-board or other suitable material which can be packed and stored in a small space, and when desired for use, can be easily folded and assembled by any one of average intelligence, not requiring skilled labor.

Other objects of this invention will in part be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.

The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter descrlbed and of which the scope of application will be indicated in the followin claims.

Referring to the drawin s, A represents the blank from which the x or carton is made. This'blank A is cut or stamped from the desired stock and all parts thereof hereinafter described are preferably, although not essentially, integral.

'lhe'front 4. is made at opposite edges with tabs 20 and 21 respectively, both being preferably relatively long and having fold lines 22 and 23 respectively at. their lines of juncture with the front 4. is divided by two parallel fold lines 24 and 25 respectively, so that the end portion 26 of the tab 20 constitutes a securing tongue while the intermediate sections 27 and 28 form covering sections to simulate the wind shield and hood top respectively, as indicated'most clearly in Figs. 3 and 4.

- The side portions 1 and 3 at their extremities and at one edge have each two cuts 29 and 30 respectively to form two tongues 31 and 32. The tongues 31 have inclined fold lines 33 and the cuts 34 are at an angle to give the desired hood shape. One of the tongues 32 forms a part of tab section 28 and the other tongue 32 is integral with a tongue 34 on the end of side 1. tongue 34 has a fold line 35 at its line .of juncture with side 1 and a second fold line 35 in registry with cut 30, and is adapted to be secured by adhesive to the front 4 and tab section 28, the adhesive being either on the tongue 34 or the front 4 and tab section 28 whereby these parts can be secured together as one of the first steps .in the folding operation.

The several fold lines are preferably scored .or otherwise impressed to render the folding accurate and easy and in shaping The tab 20 This the box or carton the folding operation is I as follows: The blank A is folded on the lines 35, 5, 6, and 7 and the front 4 secured to half of tongue 3i by adhesive as shown in Fig. 2. The tongues 31 and 32 are folded inwardly and the tab section 28 secured by adhesive to the other half of tongue 34, while the tongue 26 is folded inside of the open top of the carton and the cover tab 16 secured in closed position over the tab 14 by projecting the tongue 17 into the box or carton, as shown in Fig. 3. The bottom 8 is then folded against the inwardly folded tabs 21 and 14 and secured by its tongue 12 so that the completed box or carton will appear as shown in Fig. 4 with the members 11 simulating wheels functioning as supports therefor, and the device as a whole having the appearance of an automobile.

Such a device readily lends itself for display purposes and is not only pleasing to the eye, but affords a convenient receptacle for candy and other contents offered for sale.

It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved and which is Well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.

As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention and as various changes might be made in the embodiment above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawings is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent i 1. As a new article of manufacture, a box or carton comprising sides, back, front, top and bottom out from.- a single sheet of material arranged to form a totally enclosed receptacle body, said body having a reduced end portion and supporting means constructed to simulate in appearance a hood and wheels respectively of an automobile.

2. As a new article of manufacture, a box or carton composed of a single folded blank which when folded forms a totally enclosed receptacle having a reduced end and supporting portions to simulate in appearance a hood and wheels respectively of an automobile.

3. A box or carton composed of a single integral blank comprising sides, back, front, bottom and top or closure portions all connected by fold lines, tabs on the back and front, tongues on one side portion and on the top and bottom portions, a pair of angularly disposed tongues cut from one edge and forward extremity of each side whereby one end of the box or carton will be reduced in area when folded to simulate an automobile hood, and rounded supports cut from the bottom and provided on one side to simulate wheels.
