Be it known that I, GEORGE E. HARTs- HoRNE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tulsa, in the county of Tulsa and State of Oklahoma, have invented new and useful Improvements in License Tags, of which the following is a specification.

In these views 1 indicates the license tag which is of the usual construction and contains the holes2 for attaching the tag to the tag holder of the vehicle. My invention provides an attachment for this tag which consists of a small plate 3' having the characters 4 thereon for .indicating the year and the numerals 5 which are the same as the numerals on the tag 1, thus identifying the attachment with the tag. This attaching plate is provided with the holes 6 which will register with some of the holes in the tag` 1 so that this attaching latev can be bolted or riveted to the tag 1 1n a position where it will cover the numerals of the past year.

This plate 3 is preferably colored with a different color from that of the plate of the previous year so to indicate the change. YVhile the drawings show the attachment placed at one end of the tag it will of course be understood that it will be placed in a position to cover the numbers of the previous year so that it will depend on the positions of these numbers as to where the plate is placed.

By this invention it is simply necessary to buy the small attachment plate and place it on the old tag. This will not only save the expense of buying entire new plates but will also save postage in mailing out the tags. owner to use the same numbers year after year..

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.

I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement ofthe several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.

e What I claim is As a new article of manufacture, a date plate for use over one end portion of the face of a license tag; the said plate being formed of bendable sheet metal and having a major portion corresponding in length to the width of the license tag and being characterized byvend tabs to be bent over the longitudinal edges of the license tag, byl a side tab to be bent over the end edge of the license tag, and by an aperture for arrangement in coincidence with an aperture provided in the license tag whereby a common means may be employed for connecting lthe license tag to an automobile and positively securing the license plate on the license tag.
