Also movably mounted upon the pivot stud 16 in front of the subject `designator is a transparent disc 23 consisting preferably of Celluloid', this transparent disc being of a dimension to encompass theJ hour numerals, as clearly shown in Fig. 1. On this transparent disc 23 is painted or otherwise produced a time set index 24, designed upon the movement of the transparent disc to register with or point out the time markings, hereinbefore described, on the dial plate. In the present instance this time set index, is produced in imitation of red. Further mounted for movement upon the pivot stud 16 is a time stop index 25 designed also to register with or point out the time markings on the dial plate. In the present instance this time stop index is lined for indications of black. This time stop index corresponds as to its purpose with the minute hand of a Watch or clock since. its position in relation to the ordinals in a clock-wise direction designates the period of time after the hour. The subject designator, the transparent disc with its time set index and the time stop index are bound together in frictional contact against the dial plate by means of the pivot stud 16, it of course being understood that on@ of the flanges on the pivot stud will not, in assembling, be crimped into retaining position until the parts have been properly mounted. The subject designator, transparent dial with its time set index and the time stop index are so bound together upon the pivot stud that while each. of them is freely manually movable with respect to the other, yet each one willv be held by friction in any position to which it is moved about the face of the dial plate.
By way of illustrating the operation of the time indicator, let us assume that it is to be employed in connection with operations in a laundry, for instance to show the predetermined period of time that a batch of clothes is to be washed in Suds 2. Let us assume further that the time, the washing operation is to commence is forty minutes past eleven; and that the washing operation is to continue for a period of twentylive minutes. To register these facts, the subject designator is moved on its pivot to occupy a position over Suds 2 and the time set index is moved to indicate the subdivisional line. 2O which denotes forty minutes past eleven, as shown'in Fig. 1. Since each subdivision-al line 2O denotes a five minute period of time, and since there remains four subdivisional periods between the position of the time set index at forty minutes past eleven and the ordinal twelve, twenty minutes of the period are thus accounted for, so that the time stop index 25 is placed opposite the ordinal one which signifies that the washing operation in Suds 2 will be completed at five minutes after twelve. Having thus set the time indicator, it is only necessary to observe the time on a'watch or clock from which will be determined when the watch or clock is five minutes past twelve that the washing operation in Suds 2 is completed. In this manner my improved time indicator will show for reference the subject matter or operation to which attention is being given, the time on which the task or operation commences and the time on which the task or operation is to be completed. lVhile I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modication without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A time indicator including a dial plate; a backing plate therefor, said dial plate and backing plate having curved marginal regions; a re-enforcing member combined with the backing plate to provide an annular groove in which the marginal edge of the dial plate is crimped; a member connecting the dial plate, backing plate and reenforcing member, and means on said member for co-operating with the dial plate, substantially as described. f
2. A time indicator comprising a dial plate having time and subject markings thereon; a backing plate and re-enforcing plate with which said dial plate is united, said re-enforcing plate having means for attachment to an object; a central pivot stud projecting from the dial plate, backing plate and re-enforcing member; a time set index and a time stop index adapted to register with the time markings on the dial plate; a subject designator adapted to register with the subject markings on the dial plate; said time set index, time stop index and subject designator being mounted in frictional engagement on said pivot stud and adapted for independent manual movement thereon, substantially as described.
3. A time indicator comprising a dial plate and a backing plate secured together, said dial plate having time and subject markings thereon, said backing plate having means thereon for attachment to an object; a central pivot stud projecting from the dial plate; a subject designator movably mounted on said pivot stud; a transparent disc movably mounted on said pivot stud and having a time set index thereon; a time stop index movably. mounted on said pivot stud, said subject designator, time set index and time stop index being differently characterized; said subject designator, transparent disc and time stop index being friotionally held together on the pivot stud and adapted each to be held in the position 10 Where-at it is set, substantially asl described.
