B.' B. RHODEN COMBINATION GARMENT Filed March 5, 1925 @Nomura Patented Sept. 8, Y1925. v,
, UNITED STATES BLANCHE BELL RHODEN, OF W'EST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA.
COMBINATION GAMENT.
Application led March 5, 1923. Serial No. 622,907.
vTo all whom it may' comer/n:
Be it known that BLANCHE BELL RHODEN, acitizen of the United States of America, residing at West Palm Beach, in the county of Palm Beach and State of Florida, has
invented certain new and useful Improvements lin Combination Garments, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to garments and l0 more particularly` to a ladys undergarment adapted to be worn next to the body.
It consists of a unitary garment comprising three types of garment as a camisole or v bust-conner, a petticoat or skirt and a chemise or bloomers. y
An object of the invention is to provide a unitary garment which obviates the use of any supplemental lingerie, is very comfortable for women to wear and is easily g2g quickly put on or taken of the wearer s Aynother object is to provide a garment of this type which is permanently and continuouslyv :closed in a horizontal direction 25 thereby eliminating the use of the objectionable body-closure openings and fastening p means as hooks and eyes, buttons and buttonholes and snap-fasteners'.
In hot climates a-nd warm weather the' outline or silhouette ofthe lower extremities of the wearer can be uite readily observed due to the few and light fabrics worn by women and the transmission of li ht theref thru. An object of this invention is to. overcome this objection b` obstructin or preventing the passage o light therct ru.
Other objects will be observed rfrom the the following specification and drawing wherein like numerals designate similar 40 parts.
Figure 1 is with parts thereof broken away; and
Figure 2 is a rear view of the garment shown in Figure 1.
In Figures 1 and 2 the numeral 24, designates a unitary garment comprising a camisole or bust-confiner 25, a petticoat 0r skirt 26, and a pair of bloomers `27. The petticoat and camisole .are formed of a single unitary piece of material. The camisole or bust confiner is formed by folding the material back upon itself as at 28, to form a substantially wide hem 29, which extends a front view of a garment what I caim is:
entirely around the garment from a point above the bust of the wearer to a above the waist line 30, Where it is fastened as by stitches 31, to the outer fabric. Extending completely around the top edge of the camisole at a point below the fold 28, is a line of stitches 32, which form a continuous tubular portion for the reception of an elastic web 33. An opening may be provided in this tubular portion. The integral skirt or petticoat extends from the waistline 30, downward to a point below the crotch and bloomers 27, and has diver ing sides 34, and an o en end 35, exten ing from side to side. e petticoat has a single ply upper portion 36, and a double' ply lower portion 37, formed by folding the material upon itself to form a substantially wide hem extending tion of the bloomers to a point below the lower ends of the bloomers and completely around the garment in a horizontal direction. The b comers 27, are attached to the waist-line 30, on the inner side thereof by twohorizontally spaced apart and parallel lines of stitches 38, which form a tubular portion 39, adapted to receive an elastic draw string 40. An opening maybe provided in this tubular portion. The' bloomers are constructed with legs 41 and 42 thereof having a crotch opening 43, extending from the point 44, in front to a point 45, in back and provided with the' .usual fasteners for closing the same such as buttons and buttonholes. It will be particularly noted that the camisole 25, and skirt 26, are entirely closed in, a horizontal direction around the garment.
Havi thus described my invention,
A unitary (garment of fabric adapted to cover the bo y in an entirely closed condition circumferentially of the garment with means for contracting the garment about the wearers body' at widely separated points and com 'rising an up r garment and a plurality oy superimp upper arment and the outer of said superimpo lower garments being integrally connected by afwaistline portion, said upper garment being of double ply construction point below. thereof but terminates a substantial distancefrom a Apoint below the waist-v line 30, butv above the crotch and lower porlower garments, said' los extending from a point above to a point below the wearers chest and above said Waist line portion, the inner of said superimposed lower garments being connected to said 5 waistline portion and the outer of said superimposed lower garments being of double ply construction with the inner ply extending from the lower part thereof to a point above the wearers crotch and terminating below said waistline portion and being inde- 10 pendent of said inner lower garment.
YIn testimony whereof I affix my signature.
