To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MIOHAL KnoMP, a citizen of Canada, residing at Montreal, county of Quebec, and State of Canada, and I, STANISLAWJALOSZYNSKI, a citizen of Poland residing at Montreal, county of Quebec, and Stateof Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Valve Looks for Gasoline Conduits, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in valve locks, particularly locks for the valves of gasoline conduits or the like, particularly intended for preventing theft of automoloiles or the like by interrupting the flow 'of gasoline from the tank to the engine.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a lock of this type which can conveniently be installed in any make of car at present in use without materially changing the construction.
A further ob 'ect of the invention is the provision of a lock of this character adapted to be operated by a special separate key in possession of the owner of the car.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of alock enclosed in a casing preventing the tampering of the look by unauthorized persons in which a spring-con trolled movable plate presents additional locking means for the valve body.
It is also an object of the invention to provide such a lock of simple and inexpen sive construction positively preventing any flow of gasoline from the storage tank to the engine, thus making the engine practically useless for perons bent upon making away with the car. I
Theseiand other objects and advantages or my invention will become more fully known as the description thereof proceeds, and will then be specifically pointed out in the appended claims. y r

In the gasoline conduit 10 of a car or the like, between the fuel tank and the carburetor, a valve blockll is interposed having a horizontal central bore 12 establishing a communication between the endsof the cut conduit 10 andadapted to hold a valve body 13 having a bore 14 adapted to establish connection with bore 12 and conduit 10 or to interrupt said connection upon the rotatation of thevalve body by suitable means to be more fully described herebelow. The lower end of valve body 18 rotates on a screw 15 or the like passed through the bottom of a casing 16 enclosingthe valve and co-operating parts and secured betweencollars- 17 and 18 on the conduit 10. y
Ahead 19 on said screw rests against a washer 20 in engagement with the bot-tom of casing 16 and providing for a fluid tight closure at this point. The valve bodyeX- tends through a horizontal partition 21 in the casing provided with a central opening to permit the passage of the body intermediate its ends. A suitable washer '22 sur rounds said body atthis place, while posts 23 separate partition 21 from the top of ca ing 16 which is provided with openings 24 permitting the introduction of the prongs 25 of a forked key body having an upper handle 26 andra shank 27 on which collars 28' and 29 are provided between which the upper bar 30 connecting the prongs 25 is guided. y i

In the upper compartment of the casing 16 a collar 41 is arranged at the top plate having a shoulder or abutment 42 at its lower edge adapted to engage the abutment 38 of collar 36 on body 13. Collar 41 has also a passage 43 allowing the engagement between key and projection 39 of body 13 entering said passage 43. The plate 31 has a central opening 44 allowing the passage of body 13, and lugs 44 on said plate project into opening 44 at opposite sides and are adapted to engage recesses 37 of collar 36 on body 13.
The device operates as follows:
Assuming the valve is open to allow the running of the car and an uninterrupted flow of gasoline from the fuel tank to the engine as illustrated by the position of the parts in Figure 1, and it is desired to lock the valve and to close the same to interrupt the flow of fuel from the tank to the engine, the key 26 is pressed down with its recess into engagement with the projection or lug 39 of the valve body, while the prongs depress the plate 31 against the action of the springs 32 and 33. It will be clear that now the key may be turned to rotate valve body 13 into the position illustrated in Figure 4 in which the communication between the ends of conduit 10 is interrupted while shoulder or abutments 38 and 42 are in engagement and the lugs 45 enter the recesses 37 of the collar 36 at opposite points thereof. The key can then be removed and the springs will draw plate 31 upwards and the parts will be securely locked. The opening will be effected by the reverse operations;
It will be clear that changes may be made in the general arrangement and in the construction of the minor details of our invention without departing from the scope and spirit thereof as laid down in the appended claims.
Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a lock of the class described, the combination with a casing of a rotatable valve body in said casing adapted to establish and interrupt the flow of fuel from a fuel tank to an engine, a collar on said body having upper abutments and lower recesses, a projection at the upper end of said body adapted to be engaged by a key for rotating said body, and means for locking the parts in their adjusted positions.
2. In a lock of the class described, a casing, a rotatable valve body in said casing adapted to establish and interrupt the flow of fuel between a fuel tank and an engine, a spring controlled locking plate movably arranged in said casing and adapted to be depressed by the pron 's of a key adapted to rotate said valve boc lugs projecting into a circular opening in said plate, a collar on said body having lower recesses adapted to be engaged by said lugs and an upper abutment on said collar, a second collar in said casing having an abutment adapted to engage said upper abutment on the collar upon the rotation of said body by said key, and means for guiding said body within said casing.
3. In a valve lock for the valves of fuel conduits in engines, a valve body, a casing for said valve body, means for rotatably supporting said body within said casing, a collar near the upper end of said body having upper abutments and lower recesses, a central upper lug on said body adapted for engagement by a key to rotate saidvalve body and removable therefrom, a collar on said casing havinglower shoulders adapted to engage the abutments of said body collar and having a recess allowing the projection of said body into said collar on the casing and the insertion of said key, a movable plate in said casing having a central circular recess,.lugs projecting into said recess at opposite points adapted to engage the recess in the lower edge of the body collar, springs for normally holding these parts in engagement and allowing a depression of the plate by prongs of a key to permit a rotation of said body by said key engaging with its lower recess the upper projection of said body, and means for allowing the introduction of the key prongs and key into the casing, and means for holding and guiding said valve body during its rotation.
