Be it known that 1, Mrirnnw Hi FRANK, a citizen ot the United States, residing at tltockett, in the county of Cascade and State of lilontana, havefinvented certain new and useful improvements in a Gate, ot which the Following is a specification. i
My invention relates to improvements in gates and has for an object to provide a gate that is adapted to be operated `at a distant point and that is semi-automatic in its naturc.
A Yturther object of my invention is to arovide a gate, wherein the gate may be opened at a distance from' the gate and may be closed again at the same relative distance on the opposite side oit the gate.
A still turther object of the invention is to provide a gate, that will remain in a closed position until it hasy been opened, and when it has been opened it can not bc closed until it has been manually operated.
A still further object ot' my invention is to provide a gate that is strong, durable, simple and inexpensive in construction, wherein the number of working parts are reduced to a minimum.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent during the course of the following description.

1n the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 10 designates any desired form of gate which may be formed from the longitudinal members 11, a vertical member 12 and the diagonal braces 13.
It is necessary to have three large posts 14, 15 and 16 which should be spaced apart the same length as the gate as is clearly shown in the drawings. The posts 14, 15 and 16 should be Vof sutlicient length, that stance, 121` and 15 is cam track 17, theV higliest'poii-it ot' the cam track 17 being at` a point 18 intermediate of the ends. The vertical frame members 25 are fastened to the end of the gate member 11 in any desired manner, and are adapted to be moved with the gate, or in other nfords the gate 10 is adapted to be moved with the frame 22. The vertical trame members 25 terminate in the eXtensions 26, which are provided with the roller members 2T which are adapted to ride on the cam track 17. It will readily be seen that Y the stop members Q1 will restrict the movement ot the rollers 27 along the track 17 in either direction. A U-shaped bracket member 28 is mounted on the center post 15 at a point directly below the lower longitudi nal upright member 23, in such a manner that it will act as a guide and support for said frame member.
A pulley wheel 29 is mounted on the vertical member 12 ot the gate 10 by means of. the arms 30. A second pulley wheel is mounted on the intermediate post 15 by means of a bracket 31, said bracket 31 being positioned any desired height on the post 15, provided it is above the top longitudinal member 11. A cable 33 is adapted to run over the pulley 29 and 32 respectively, and is fastened at one end to the post 34 on one. side of the gate, a substantial distance therefrom, and is fastened at the opposite end to a similar post 35, the same relative distance on the opposite side of the gate 10.
1t will thus be seen that in use, the gate will be mounted as is clearly shown in the drawings, and the frame 29. will be adapted to ride on the track members 17 and 19 by means'y ot' the wheels 27. Assuming that a person is approaching the gate on the side where the post 34 is located, instead of going to the trouble of getting out of the Wagon, automobile or the like, he merely pullspon the cable 33 which will draw the gate along the track 17 and 19 respectively until the Wheels 27 are at a point designated by 18 and'ZO respectively. It will thus be seen that after the Wheels 27 have passed the points 1S and 20 respectively, the gate will be caused to open due to its own weight. The person can then pass through the gate and Vif he desires may pull on the other end of the cable thereby reversing the operation and closing the gate as is .clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing. The
stops 21 are formed on the ends of the tracks to prevent the Wheels 27 from running ol' ot the track as would happen it' the stops 21 were not provided. *It will thus be seen that .51 haveddevised a very eicient form of gate operating mechanism7 that is easily adapted for use at lvery little expense.
It is to 'be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is g to be taken as the preferred embodiment of terials dimensions, etc., may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or scope or the subjoined claim.
Having thus fully described my invention 'what 1 claim is A device of the class described comprising a plurality of upright posts, a track having` inclined portions mounted near the top of the posts, the highest point of said track being arranged intermediate adjacent posts, stop means made integral with the track and arranged above the same Vnear its ends and intermediate its ends, a frame movably mounted on the track, a gate associated with the frame and cable means connected to the gate to move the frame along the track to a predetermined point, Where it will be moved direct au'ay by gravity.
