S. J. KRATZEL TREE BRANCH HOLDER Filed Sept. 15, 1925 Stephen Kratzel INVENTOR fiaj m ATTORNEY Patented June 2, 1925.
" lTED STATES STEPHEN J. KRATZEL, OF NORTHAMPTON, PENNSYLVANIA.
' TREE-BRANCH HOLDER.
Application filed September 15, 1923. Serial No. 662,920.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, STEPHEN J. KRATZEL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Northampton, in the county of Northampton and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tree-Branch Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to branch holders designed to facilitate the attachment of branches to Christmas trees.
It is well known that the various types of evergreen trees used at Christmas time i are frequently irregular in appearance due to irregular positions of the limbs and at times there will be a relatively large vacant space at one side of the tree; and it is an object of this invention to provide a device which will permit the attaching of a loose limb to the tree to fill in the vacant space and provide a neat appearing artistic tree.
Other objects of the invention will appear in the following description and in the drawings wherein;
Fig. 1 is a fragmentary side elevation of a tree showing parts in section-to illustrate the limb attaching device applied.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the limb attaching device.
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section through the limb or branch attaching device.
Fig. 4 a cross section through a modified form of the invention.
Fig. 5 a longitudinal section through a modified form of the invention.
Figure 6 is a detail end view of the tree branch holder.
Referring more (particularly to the drawings the improve branch or limb holder comprises a substantially frusto-conical shell 1 which has its base open to receive the butt end of a limb or branch as indicated at 2. The apex of the shell 1 is com I being structed as shown at 3 to snugly lit the head 4 of a screw 5. The screw 5 may be soldered to the body shell 1 as shown at 6 if desired to provide a more rigid connection between the body shell and screw.
The butt end of the limb 1 may be shaved down if necessary. to properly fit within the body shell, into which it is forced.
After the limb 2 has been fitted in the body shell 1 the screw 5 is screwed into the trunk 7 of the tree at the desired place, as shown in Figure 1 of the drawings.
In Figure 4 of the drawings a modified form of the invention/is, shown, in which the body shell 1 is formed of pliable material so as to permit it to be shaped to snugly fit the limb. 2, to provide secure connection between the limb and body.
In Fi shell 1 has the threaded point 5 formed inte ally therewith and in all other respects the modified form is similar to the referred form previously described. he
body shell lis referably oval shaped in cross section as s own in Figure 6 of draw- $Vhat I claim is 1. A tree branch holder comprising a substantially frustro-conical body shell, a screw having a head, the apex of said body shell being constricted tofit said screw head.
2. A tree branch holder comprising a limb receiving body and a threaded attaching member, said body being pliable to permit it to be shaped to fit a tree limb.
3. A tree branch holder comprising a substantially frustro-conical body shell, a screw having a head, the apex of said body shell constricted to tightly fit the screw, said body shell being pliable to permit it to be shaped to fit a tree limb.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
STEPHEN J. KRATZEL.
