ALLYN H. MARKERT AND GEORGE W. IMABKERT, 01? EEILADELPEIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
HOLDER.
Application filed February 10, 1921. Serial No. 243,854.
To all whom itmay concern:
Be it known that ALLYN H. Mnnnnn'r and Gnoncn l/V. Mnnnnn'r, citizens of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The herein described device relates to holders -for milk-bottles, bread, newspapers, letters and articles of like nature, and to a device adapted to be removably attached to some portion of a dwelling as to make it adaptable for ready and instant use.
One of the objects of this invention is to provide a simple and practical device which can be easily and quickly attached to a predetermined situation, and as easily and quickly removed when necessary, for the purpose of acting as a receiver and holder of various articles. A further object is to provide a device as herein described which will be inexpensive to manufacture, reliable in use, convenient in operation, adapted to be removably attached to prevent the depredations of animals as well as the spoiling of the contents by the unclean'habits of animals, sanitary and attractive, of such sim ple construction that no parts can be broken in use, and of such nature as to enable anyone to conveniently position and attach and use the same.
While the foregoing explains the general purpose and objects of the device, other objects and advantages will appear in the specifications that follow, in which the novel features, construction and arrangement of the various parts will be brought out, de-
scribed and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and in which corresponding parts are denoted by like designating numerals is illustrated the preferred form of the embodiments of the invention capable of carrying the same into practical operation, it being understood that the invention is not necessarily limited thereto, as various changes in shape, proportions, and general assemblage of the several parts may be resorted. to without departing from the principle of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages, in which 2- Figure 1 is a plan view.
Figure 2 is a side view.
Figure 3 is a view in perspective, slightly enlarged, of the top of the device.
Figure 4 is a partial view in perspective showing one of the holding members.
To more fully describe the drawings and to make cleart-he operation and the purpose of the herein described device :the numeral 1 shows a rear member having extending therefrom several members 2 for remov ably attaching the device. At the top and in front of the rear member and attached thereto is a member 3 with the mouth sprung outwardly from the body thereof to receive and hold in place such articles as newspapers, magazines or like articles. Directly beneath said member and extending from the rear member there is located the member e: upon which is attached the securing element 5 adapted to receive and hold in position a small bottle, such as would be adapted to hold a pint of cream, or like. substance; extending downwardly from the member 4- there is shown the member 6 at the top of which is located the securing member 7 slightly sprung at the mouth adapted to receive a note or card upon which is written the wants, or, more plainly, instructions or orders to the milkman, baker or grocer, the said securing member is also so constructed as to afford the letter carrier ample opportunity to place letters therein. From the upright member 6 there extends the containing member 8 in which bread of a certain shape and size can be placed, the said bread containing member is held against the upright member by the spring 10 situated upon a rod connected with the arms 11. When necessary to use the container it is opened outwardly and downwardly by grasping the member 9 and article placed within the container which is then held securely by the above mentioned spring. Situated below the aforesaid upper container, there is shown another container 12 adapted for a like purpose as the upper, but which will also receive bread of a different size and shape loaf, this containing member is held in position by the springs 14 maintained by the arms let and is operated by grasping the member 18 by which the said container member is pulled downwardly and outwardly from the upright member until the article has been placed therein, and then permitted to rest against the upright memher. At its lower end the upright member 6 is turned outwardly and upwardly forming the member 15 which is adapted and positioned so as to receive and hold the loops should it be that the user receiving bundles from the stores, parcelpost packages and such articles. On each side of the upright member 1 and the member 6 located the members 16 of a circular shape adapted to receive and hold a bottle of milk of the quart size, it is to be noted that both or either the members can occuplied the one On one of the circular members is located a spring ated ineinbcr r is so constructed esp and hold in posi ion a paper bag as in wl ioh may be placed rolls or buns by the baker mice of a nature allied thereto.
What i claim as new and desire to secure by Lettcrs-Patent is In device for the purpose specified, in combination a single rear upright bent at its upper extremity to form securing means, outwardly and upwardly extending receiving; means attached to the front of said upri ht an arm situated below said receiving tron or downwardly, parallel to the rear upright the downward extension of said arm having retaming means thereon and havlng below sald retaining means a pair of outwardly extendin arms supporting a spring actuated holder, a second pair or outwardly extending suppo second spring actuated ielow said last named arms and and a 0:2 curved sections extending; on either side of and connected with said i upright and said downwardly extending arm, one said curved sections having 4 4 in M35 ALLYN H.
