Description

Patented Sept. 19, 1922,
INVENTOR ATTORNEY wrmess:
patented Sept; 1%, 1322.
ease RICHARD P. ELEIIORE, 03E SULPHUR, QKLAEOEA.
ATTACHMENT FOE gFEUTAC.
Application filed. August 9,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RICHARD P. ELMoRn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sulphur, in the county of Murray and State of Oklahoma, have invented new and useful Improvements in Attachments for Spectacles, of which the following is a speci cation.
This invention relates to an attachment 0 for spectacles and has for its primary object the supporting of an auxiliary lens in place that the same may readily assume a position directly in front of the lens of the spectacle A or to one side thereof.
An object of the invention is the provision of means wherebythe auxiliary lens may be quickly connected to or detached from the spectacle frame and in a manner that the spectacle frame will not have to be reconstructed.
A feature of the invention is the construction and arrangement of parts whereby the auxiliary lens may be quickly thrown to a position of accurate parallelism with one of the lenses of the spectacle.
With these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in con nection with the accompanying drawing 0 wherein: 1
Fi 1 is a perspective View showing my attac ment in place.
Fig. 2 is a detail sectional view.
Fig. 3 is a plan view.
Fig. 4 is a detail bottom clamp.
Again referring to the drawings illustrating one of the many constructions of my invention the numeral 1 designates an ordi to nary frame of a s ectacle having the usual temple joint 2. y invention consists of a clamp 3 composed of a block 4 having a horizontal portion engaging over the joint 2 and a vertical portion 6 engaging against the joint and conforming to the curvature thereof. A resilient clip 7 is connected to the block and acts against the joint 2 ina mam 35 plan view of the with the joint will also 1921. Serial Ho. 91,901.
.ner to hold the block in tight engagement and at the same time allowing the clamp to be readily detached from. the joint. The block is further provided with ears 8 pivotally connected to one limb 9 of a substantially l. shaped link 10. The other limb 11 of the link is formed into a head 12 pivotally connected to the ears 13 of a ring 14 as clearl shown at 15.
The he'a 12' is provided with a shoulder 16 engaging against the cars 13 when the lens 17 supported by the ring is in accurate position with relation to the lens of the spece0 tacle. This action is further facilitated by the shoulder 18 on the block 3.
From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing it will be apparent that I provide an attachment that maybe quickly moved into place I or out of place or which may be as quickl completely detached from the spectacle. t
V be noted that the parts are associated to allow accurate adjustments.
It is, of course to be understood that the invention may he constructed in various other manners and the parts associated in difierent relations and, therefore, I do not desire to be limited in any m nner except as set forth in the claims hereun appended.
Having thus described my invention What I claim is: i
1. An attachment for spectacles comprising a block, shaped to engage the temple joint of a spectacle," a clip for detachably holding the block in place, an auxiliary lens, and a link pivotally connecting the block to the lens.
2. An attachment for spectacles compriss5 ing a block, shaped to engage the temple 'oint of a spectacle, a clip for detachably olding the block in place, an auxiliary lens,
and a link pivotaliy connecting the block to the lens, said link connecting the block and lens in a manner to regulate the positioning of the lens.
- In testimony whereof I aflix m,
' RIC D P.
si nature.
