Description

latented Sept. i922.
entree UABINET FOR MUSIC ROLLS.
Application filed 'February 4, 1921., Serial No. 442,391.
To all w 710m 2'25 may concern Be it known that l, FRANK PERME, Senior,
a citizen of the United States, and resident of Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of @hio, have inventedcertain new and useful Improvements in Cabinets for lv ilusic Rolls; of which I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains, to make and use the same.
The objects of the invention are to provide an improved. form of cabinet for the music rolls of a player piano, and in which a large number of rolls can be stored out of contact with each other and retained in neatly rolled condition, always ready for use.
The invention includes, a cabinet provided with a multiple number of sliding panels, upon both sides of which the music rolls are detachably secured.
These panels can be separately drawn out of the cabinet, and the rolls displayed thereon are immediately accessible for use and for greater convenience the aforesaid panels are also constructed to swing back on their supports.
A further advantage obtained by the use of these sliding panels isthe possibility of storing music rolls according to their classes upon separate panels, thus permitting the collection, of difierent types such as, rolls for religious, popular orclassical music, in cluding hymns, dances, sonatas, etc., by themselves, where they can readily be found without confusion or loss of time.
The invention further includes, the combination and arrangement of the various parts, and construction of details, hereinafter described,'shown in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the claim. g I
In the accompanying drawings Fig. 1, is a front elevation of the device, Fig. 2, is a side elevation showing one of the panels upon which the music rolls are stored, drawn out of the case, Fig. 3, is a plan of the cabinet, Fig. 4. is a vertical section enlarged, on line 44, Fig. 3, showingone of the hinged sliding panels, Fig. 5, is a similar vertical section on line 5-5, Fig. 8, showing a panel; and the spring keepers for the music rolls.
In these views A is the case of the cabinet, B a door hinged'thereon, O C, are'vertical tion, a casing,
panels which are attached by means of hinge leaves D D, to blocks E E,-that are slidingly movable in the dove-tailed grooves F F, in the top and bottom walls of the cabinet.
These panels when'drawn out of the cabinet swing upon pintle pins G G, which connect the pairs of hinge leaves, but when arr sic.
pushed back intothe case the edges H H, of
the panels enterthe grooves and keep the panels in parallel relation to each othen Vertically above each other spring keeper's,- l l", are secured to'the'panel walls, on both sides thereof. In these keepers the music rolls are secured, and the sides of the gripping forks retain the tightly rolled films in place and prevent them from becoming unrolled.
The rolls can also be displayed with their, titles in View, and the panels on which they are mounted can be swung from side to side when drawn out of the case thus presenting the rolls in turn to the operator.
The-rollsare provided with flanges J J, which rest upon the thin portion of the panels, and against the stiles at the sides of;
the panel thus preventing them from trustmg in their supports.
Having described the invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters latent is; i f
In a cabinet for music rolls, in combine-- vertical panels transversely slidable therein, the upper and lower walls, of said cabinet provided with transverse grooves, blocks slidable in said grooves, hinge leaves connecting said blocks respectively to said panels, said panels comprising each a thin central portion and thicker stiles, so that music rolls provided with flanges may engage said stiles and be retained from longitudinal movement thereby, said panels con structed and arranged to swing free of said grooves when drawn out of said case, but to enter said grooves when'pushedinto the case, and means for detachably securing said rolls to the vertical faces of said panels, said securing .means serving also to compress the rolls and maintain them in a closely wound condition.
Intestimony whereof, I hereunto set my hand this 25 day of January 1921. p
. FRANK PERME, SR, In presence of r S. W. SANGSTER.
