BARN-CLEANING IMPLEMENT.
Application filed November 27, 1920.
To all whom it may co n-corn:
Be it known that I, Fnonn A. Knnsn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tyler, in the county of Lincoln and State of ltlinnesota, have invented certain new and useful lmprovei'nents in a Barn-Cleaning Implement, of which the following is a specitication.
This invention relates to a barn cleaning implement and has for its principal object the production of a simple and eliicient implement whirh may be used for scraping the manure out of the gutter which is usually found in the modern dairy barns immediately behind the row of stalls.
Another object of this invention is to provide an implement of this nature which will be extren'iely simple, durable and inezipensive of construction, one which is efiicient and reliable in operation, and Well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed.
lVith these and numerous other objects in view, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction, and. the con1- bination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawing Figure l is a side elevation of the in1- plement showing same in use.
Figure is a top plan view thereof, and
Figure 3 is an enlarged side elevation thereof.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the numeral 1 ind' ates the scraper which is preferably formed of metal and is bent so as to be arvuate in vertical cross section and will be of suflicient size to fit transversely across the gutter 2 as illusv trated in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawing. It will be noted that the side edges of the sore per 1 converge toward each other. Along these side edges and upon the rear face of the scraper 1 there are disposed the braces 23 which are riveted in any suitable manner to the scraper 1 and. also converge toward each other at the r upper end A clevis 4 of any preferred construction is disposed between the upper ends of the bra-"es 3. 1i. handle 5 of any convenient size and shape is provided above the scraper l and is connected thereto by means of bolts 6 and is further braced by means of the brackets 7. The upper ends of these brackets 7 are bolt- Specification of Letters Patent.

ed to the handle 5 intermediate its ends and then diverge from each other so as to be connected to the braces 3 intermediate their ends.
In actual use the scraper 1 is placed in the gutter 2 and the wire 8 is attached to the clevis d and means are provided for pulling this wire 8 and thus the scraper will be dragged through the gutter 2 and the manure will be emptied into a receptacle of any preferred construction 9. If so desired this receptacle 9 may be a tube so that the ma nure will drop to the exterior or beneath the barn or may be disposed of in any other suitable way.
From the fore oing description, taken in connertion with the accompanying drawin the construction and operation of the device will be readily understood without a more extended explanation. As numerous changes in form, proportion, and in the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of this invention, I do not wish to be limited to the construction herein shown and described other than as claimed.
Having thus described my invention What I claim as new is:-
1. A device of the class described comprising a scraper being curved throughout its length and having its side edges converging at their upper portions, braces disposed on the rear face of the scraper and along the side edges thereof, a elevis disposed between the upper end of said braces, a handle connected to the scraper, a pair of brackets attached at one end to the handle intermediate its ends and having their other ends attached to the braces.
2. A device of the class described comprising a scraper being curved throughout its length and having its side edges convergin; toward each other at their upper ends braces disposed along the side edges and upon the rear face of the scraper, a clevis disposed in between the upper ends of said braces, and a handle connected to the scraper.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
FRODE A. KRUSE.
