My invention relates more particularly to that type of machine in which the carrying axles are bent down in the center so .as' to permit of the-motor being located lower on the truck than is usual in the four wheel drlve automobile. Further it allows easy access to the drivmg shafts or driving axles. The front and rear sections can be removed by taking a split key from the ends of the reach and the sections slipped away.
Also to the particular form of reach, which is bent down in different places to allow the motorbeing located lower than is usual in this style of machine and for other purposes. Further, its being pivoted to the front and rear sections, forming a perfectly flexible frame. Further in the improved steeringknuckle, which excludes all dirt and holds all oil within it,'in fact packing the working parts in oil, being ball mounted, so that its operation is easy and strongly and neatly built, and all parts easy of access.-
The machine consists of four carrying 'wheels' on which is mounted a power plant,
supported by a frame connecting the wheels,

In the drawings 1 and 1 represent respectivelythe forward and rear platforms of my running gear, having axles 2 and 2 with their heels 3 and 3, which are mounted on axles with knuckles 4 and 4 which permits of the oscillating of the wheels for steering the machine.
Platforms 1 and 1 are joined by a crooked reach 5 which has extended pivots 6 and 6, which fit loosely into sockets 7 and 7 located' on platforms, forming a flexible joint and capable of oscillation.
Beach 5 has driving shafts 8 and 8 mounted on it by bearings 9 and-9 shafts extend from differential case 10 to gear cases 11 and 11", which are mounted on jack shafts 12' and 12; Jack shafts 12 and ,12 are drivingly, connected by sprocket chains 13 and 13*, or any desired connection, to driving axles 14 and 14.
Aspower is applied from motor it is transmitted through differential to the four carrying wheels to drive the machine.
Fig. 4. shows another mode of driving machine. In this construction I locate triple differential 10 in the center of the machine and drive to each carrying wheel with separate driving shafts.

Spindle 20 is flexibly joined to driving axle 14.- by universal coupling 22. Sleeve 18 is rigidly joined to or forms a part of internal casing 23, which is provided with pivots 24 and- 24%. Internal casing 23 is loosely mounted within the external casing 4, formed by sections 15 and 16, so as to be oscillated in steering to guide the machine. Sections 15 and 16 are rigidly united by bolts clasping the end of the bent axle 2 and forming the external casing 4 which is loosely mounted over the casing 23, acting as a pivot and housing for the same- External casing 4 is provided with an oblong orifice 25 on its Wheelward side, sufficient for the oscillation of sleeve 18 in turning the carrying wheels to guide the machine. A steering arm 26 is rigidly mounted on pivot 24 which extends through orifice 27. Orifice 27 has sufficient width to allow clearance of arm 26 in its oscillations while operating internal casing 23 with its attachments to guide or steer the machine.
The casings are provided wit-h ball bearings sufficient to sustain the load carried on the machine and relieve it of the side rack. Internal casing 23 is provided with an orifice 28 on its truckward side of sufiicient memes dimensions to allow of the oscillation of the case in turning to guide the machine.
The chamber in casing 23 forms a housing for universal coupling 22.
The steering-knuckle is oiled by removing the invention will be thoroughly understood by those skilled in the art.
' Various changes in'the form proportions and minor details of my invention may be resorted to without departing from the spirit and scope thereof. Hence I consider myself entitled to all such variations as may lie Within the intent of my claims.
I claim as my invention: 1. In a vehicle running gear of the automobile type, a carrying axle bent down in its center with a framed platform mounted on its respective ends, in combination with a reach crooked down under said platform and pivotally mounted on the same.
'2.- In a vehicle running gear of the automobile type, front and rear truck sections, consisting of platforms mounted on bentdown axles, in combination with a crooked reach pivotally connected to said platforms,

In an automobile running gear of'the 7 four wheel drive and steer type, a subframe, consisting of platforms mounted on axles bent-down at the center with tubular ends through which loosely pass, driving axles flexibly connected to carrying wheels to propel the same, said platforms being pivotally.
