. ELECTRICAL ATTACHMENT PLUG.
Application fled August 28,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Anonrn C. Broken, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oakville, in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Electrical tachment Plugs; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application, and represent m-- Fig. 1, A view of side elevation of an electrical attachment-plug, constructed in accordance with my invention.

Fig. 9, A corresponding introduction of a round tween the jaws.
Fig. 10, A corresponding view showing the introduction of a fiat contact-finger between the jaws.
My invention relates to an improvement in electrical attachmentlugs (so called in the trade) designed to be mounted u on the view showing the contact-finger heends of flexible wires or leads, an plugged into socket-fixtures mounte in heating and lighting utensils or kindred a}; pliances containing contact-fingers :whic when the attachment-plug is applied to the fixtures, enter between the yielding jaws in the plug, the object of my inventionbeing to produce a compact, convenient and emcient electrical attachment-plug of the type described. 1
With these ends in view, my invention consists in an electrical attachment-plug Specification of Letters ratent.

having the side edges ofits pairs of jaws rolled inward to form yielding contactleaves.
My invention further consists in an electrical attachment-plug having certain details of construction as will be hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
In carrying out my invention, I employ a plug body consisting of complementary 0blong chambered body-members 2 and 3 made of insulating material and having square inner and rounded outer ends, the latter being transversely bulged as at 4 to produce, when the two members are united, what is known as a pistol grip. Located within each chambered body-member, is a central longitudinal partition 5 extended to its square inner end, but stopping short of its rounded outer end and flush with its edges. Bolts 6 passing the said webs, secure the two body-members together to form the plug-body which, as thus constructed, contains two parallel jawchambers 8 merging at their outer ends into a knot-chamber 9 which occupies the "pistol gri end of the plug-body which has a "entra o ening 10 leading out of the said knotcham 'er, in which the leads l1 and 12 are knotted as at 13, whereby the strain is removed from the terminal or binding-screws 14 in case the outer ends of the wires are pulled upon to remove the plug from its socket (not shown) as is oftentimes carelessl done. The said knot-chamber 9 is a relativel large, unobstructed, o n space locate within the outer end of t e plu -body, extending transversely to the axis t ere/of, and co-incident with the transversely arranged bulges 4 upon the outer faces of the outer ends of the body-members. The said knot-chamber is ample in its capacit to receive the knots prescribed by the un erwriters.
My improved jaws which are located within the respective jaw-chambers 8 are designed with particular reference to adapting them to receive and make efficient contact, either with fiat sheet-metal or round contact-fingers, in various makes of sockets varying somewhat as to form and size, depending upon the character of the appli ance in which the sockets are mounted. As shown, the respective jaws 15 and 15 of each pair, are alike, except that the jaw 15 is formed with a longer shank 16 than the a imam shank 17 of the jaw 15,"the said shank 16 in the la. I being folded over the shank 17, as shown in tion of a i t contact-finger 23 between the Fig. 5, and the said shanks being perforated jaw? the rounded P for the reception of the binding-screws 14 nger near the em loyed to connect the leads or wires 11 c a1m: an 12 with the 'aws which, if preferred, An electrical attachment-plug having a 86 might be made rom one piece of sheetplug-body, and a pair of jaws located the metal. The side edges of the jaws are rolled in, each aw having an integral perforated inward so as to form resilient contact-leaves shank of which the shank 0 one jaw is 19, the edges of which are separated from lon r than the shank of the other jaw and the Hat inner faces of the jaws by aecomfell? over the same to unite the two jaws 4o modation-s aces 20, as clearly as shown in and each jaw having its side-ed s rolled Fig. 8. The outer ends of the jaws are inward to form contact leaves an? flared as at 21 sufficiently to facilitate the jaws spreading apart for the accommodation entrance of the contact-fingers between the between them of flat contact-fingers and also jaws. when the plug-attachment is plugged for the accommodation of round contact- 48 into the socket. finger, and the said folded leaves yielding Fig. 9 of the drawings shows the introunder the action of round contact-fingers dnctionof a round terminal or contact-finafter the jaws have reached the limit of ger 22 between the jaws which are slightly their spreading a art by contact with the spread apart thereby. The resilient leaves interior walls 0ft e said in of the jaws are also shown as sprung into In testimony whereof, I ave signed thls the accommodation-spaces 20 aforesaid. Fig. specification 1n 4 ca of two sub- 9, therefore, illustrates the accommodation of the jaws to a round contact-finger slightly over size. It will be understood, of course that the jaws are set to accomodate the smallest round contact-fingers likely to be Fig. 10 shows the infi'odueso 1 g-body so
