' To all whom it may concern:
showing the adjustable truss-pad andthe clasp. Fig. 2 is a plan view, showing the hernia-pad and the parts ofthe device connected therewith.
My invention consists of the construction and arrangement of the elastic clasp A, provided with the slot at and apertures 11 b, the truss-pad B, the hinge 0, plate 1), spring E, and hernial pad F, as shown and described.
A is an elastic clasp, to which are attached the truss and hernial pads.v The several perforations in the clasp at I) are designed, in conjunction with the screw e,.for adjusting the truss-pad to persons of varying size. Said clasp is covered with the morocco S, or other suitable material may be employed for the intended purpose. B is a truss-pad, which consists of a metallic plate covered with soft leather or other suitable material, and pror vided with the loop-or brace d. The ends of the said brace project through apertures provided in the metallic base or plate of the trusspad B, and are clinched to the reverse face thereof. The mate screw 6 has its hearings in the metallic plate, which forms the base of the truss-pad aforesaid. F is a hernial pad, and consists of the wooden oval piece f, which latter may be covered with any soft material, if preferable in practice, having attached to the face thereof a metallic plate, D. The plate D, which is rigidly screwed to the face of the oval piece f, as aforesaid, has riveted thereto the hinge g, and to the latter is riveted the button h, which button slides in the slot a of the clasp A. E is a spiral spring, which projects through an aperture provided in the metallic plate A and into a socket located in the wooden oval piece f, where it is rigidly secured.
I claim- The pad F having spring E, and hinge 0 provided with button h, in combination with the slot at of the clasp A, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony of this my application for Letters Patent for an improvement in abdominal trusses, I have hereunto subscribed my name this 13th day of May, 1872.
