Description

NETE
stares MARY Moons, Aor WILBER, NEBRASKA.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, MARY MOORE, ,a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Vilber, in the county of Saline and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and Improved Undergarment, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description. This invention relates to improvements in undergarments, an object of the invention being to provide an improved construction of combined shirt and abdomen band providingA an improvedV diaper supporting means on the garment.
A -further object is to provide a garment of the character described which can be manufactured and sold at an extremely low price, and which can be easily and quickly placed in position on the child or removed therefrom, and which will most efiiciently perform the functions for which it is intended.
VVith these and other objects in view the invention consists of certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims. A y
In the accompanying drawings- Figure 1 is a view in rear elevation illustrating my improved garment.
Fig. 2 is a view in front elevation.
Fig. 3 is an exaggerated View in horizontal transverse section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a View in vertical section on the line 4 4 of Fig. 2.
1 represents the front member and 2 and 3 the sections of the back member of my vimproved garment. The sections`2 and 3 are -buttoned together as indicated at 4 along the back of the garment, but I may of course employ other means for connecting the sections 2 and 3. The sections 2 and 3 are provided at their lower ends with abdomen bands 5 and 6 respectively. A slit 7 is formed in the garment adjacent onev sido thereof through which the band 6 of section 3 can be projected, and the end of these bands are secured together at the front of the garment as indicated in Fig. 2. Tapes 8 are secured to the bands 5 and 6 and also extend around the front of the garment forming reinforcements for that portion of the garment which constitutes the abdomen band, and the ends of these tapes 8 project beyond the ends of the bands and areadapt- UNDERGARMENT.

ed to be secured-together vby bow knots v9 or other .form of connection. v A sheet or panel 10 is secured to the front of the garment and constitutes a reinforcement and double thereof, vand the lower end of this sheet 10 is folded inwardly upon itself and secured by a line of stitchin 11 to the front'of the garment. the sheet 10 forms a tab 12. having a plurality of thicknesses to give it the desired strength, and the diaper, not shown, is adapted to be secured to this tab by means of a safety pin 13, the latter being connected to the garment by means of a tab 14 which maintains the pin always in convenient position for use and prevents the annoyanceof lost pins. A double thickness of tape 15 is secured to the backsection 3 and supports asafety pin 16 ,for 'attachment to the back of the garment. n i
Buttons 17 are provided at the sides and at thel front of the garment for the attachment of other articles of clothing, and garters 18 are secured to the sides of the garment, as shown. l j
`By providing a structure such as above described it functions both as a shirt and as an abdomen band, and the pressure on the abdomen band can be controlled by adjustment of the ends of the tape 8, and the diaper can be conveniently connected to and disconnected from the garment. A pocket is provided on the under face of the front section 1, or rather upon the abdomen bandv 5 which is adapted to receive a block of cork or other 'similar material 19 to exert'a pressure on the navel of the child and to prevent rupture. Y
Other slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of the parts described without departing from vmy invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth but consider myself at libertyv to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
I claim: l 1. A garment of the character described r risica. f
This fol ed lower portion of comprising the Yfront section, the back seci' tions, abdomen bands on the back sections secured around thefront of the garment,
a sheet or panel secured at its upper end to neutli itself and Secured to the front sectionv to form a tab at its lower end.
2. A garment of tlie Character lierein Speeiied comprising front and back members, the back member including two sections secured to the front member at the sides and Sepa-mtelyveonneoted to eaeli other, abdominal bands integrally Carried by said'seotions,l a panel or sheet formed on and secured at its upper endA to the upper end of the front" member andr` folded. back; at its lower enden tab secured to said panel-, a.; tab secured.' to
Sitioned centrally of the body portion andv Secured at its upper end to the upper end. of 20 the body portion on the outside thereof, the lower portion; of Said; panel looped vupwardly rearwardly and secured to the garment whereby the lower portion or" Said panel forms a diaper reeeivingvloo nl, er Moolen.
