Description

1. J. OLSON.
GARNIENT.
APPLICATION FILED APII.7,I9I9.
Patented June 6,1922.
@Ubuntu JOHN J'. OLSON, OF BEL-VIEW; MNNESOTA..
GARMENT.
intense.,
Application tiled April 7,
10 all whom t may concern .Be .it known that l, Jol-IN J. OLsoN, a citizen of the Unit-ed States, residing at Belvicw, in the county of Redwood and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garments, of which the following a speciiication.
This invention has for its object to provide an improved garment including permanently connected body and leg portions provided with a toldable rear flap arranged in such manner as to afford the wearer adequate protection with a high degree of accessibility and convenience.
llfith these and other objects in `View as will appear as the description proceeds the invention comprises the novel features of construction, accompanied by elements and arrangement of parts which will be more fully described in the following specification and set forth with particularity in the claim appended hereto.
Figure l represents a perspective view of the Igarment applied to use,
Figure 2 is an enlarged fragmentary rear elevation, partly in section,
Figure 3 represents a fragmentary perspective view of the meeting edges of the body and flap portions, and,
Figure 4l represents a fragmentary side elevation of the garment, illustrating the manner of fastening the side of the rear iap.
li-ifcrring to the drawings in detail wherein similar reference Ycharacters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views the numeral 5 indicates the body portion of the garment which is provided with the usual neck portion 6 and sleeve 7 and the lower front edge of which is permanently connected by a waist band 12 with the depending leg portions.
The garment is provided, in the rear, with a substantially inverted U-shaped slit the relatively longI horizontally disposed portion of which is located at approximately the line of the waist band 12 the parallel portions of which extend downwardly along` the sides of the garment as indicated at 18 forming a -Hap 10. When closed7 the flap l0 occupies a position beneath the bottom edge of the body portion 5 and the upper edge of the Hap is provided with an adequate number of buttons 14e engageable in the holes 15 Specification of Letters Patent.

formed in the lower edge of the body portion whereby the iap is secured in closed position. The side edges of the flap are disposed beneath the side edges of the parallel portions of the slit in the garment and are secured thereto by buttons 11 tting in holes formed in the edges of the flap.
The portion of the top edge of the iiap intermediate the buttons 14E is formed with an extension or tab 17 carrying buttons 16 detachably engaged with the lower terminals of supporting straps 13 which are preferably of the adjustable type and are secured beneath the shoulder portions of the body 5 and are extended downwardly thereunder into engagement with the tab 17 thus assisting the body portion in supporting the flap and rendering the garment more comfortable to the wearer.
The portion of the bottom edge of the body portion 5 overlying the flap 10 is formed with a relatively narrow flap or strip 12a secured along the lower longitudinal edge to the body portion 5 and extending downwardly beyond and concealing the buttons 14 thereby enhancing the general appearance of the garment and rendering the buttons 14 less liable to accidental displacement.
What I claim is:
A garment including a body portion, a nether portion permanently secured to the front lower edge of the body portion between points at opposite sides of the body at y and arranged to meet the rear lower edge of the body portion in overlapping relation, a plurality of buttons secured on andl spaced intermediate the opposite ends of the upper edge'of said closure flap, and adapted for engagement in buttonholes complemental thereto and formed in the lower edge of the body portion, a tab secured medially of the upper edge of said closure Hap and having buttons on the free edge thereof, and a pair of straps within the body portion and having their upper ends only secured to the top of the shoulder portions thereof, said straps converging downwardly and having their lower end portions secured together in spaced relation one with respect to the other astenings of the Closure Hap midis transmitted by said Straps to the shoulder portions of the body portion of the garment. 10 In testimony whereof, afIiX my signature hereto.
