When a working'supply of filling is present in the shuttle on a detecting beat, the normally projecting rear end of the penetrating feeler first enters the mass of filling or sinks into it between the coils thereof, and then the surface of the filling meets the impinging feeler and the feeler members normal'action of the spring 11; When, however, the filling is substantially exhausted on a detecting beat, the penetrating feeler 22 will be engaged by the more dense surface of the fillingcarrier or bobbin and forced frontwardly relative to the impinging feeler, thereby moving theactuator into operative position, substantially as indicated inFig. 2, by depressing the front end portion of the actuator into a position for engagement with i the end of the .transmitter 8 as the two'feelers and slide 9 are movedfrontwardly, to

Since the front end of the penetrating feeler is in positive connection with the actuator, manipulation of the adjusting screw .25 1n elther direction, efiects corresponding adjustment of the end of the penetrating feeler withrespect to the face of the impinging feeler, and a delicate relation of the end of the penetrating feeler and the impinging face of the impinging feeler is readily effected. When the screw 25 has been adjusted, it may be located in position by a lock nut 32.
What is claimed is:
'1. In a feeler mechanism for looms, the combination of an impinging feeler, a penetrating feeler which passes loosely through the impinging feeler, an actuator, a ball and enclosing socket connection between the impinging feeler and actuator which positively connectsv the two and prevents disengage ment of the feeler from the actuator means engaging the ball and positively holding it in the socket. I
2. In a feeler mechanism for looms, the
combination of an impinging feeler, a penetrating feeler which passes loosely through the impinging feeler, an actuator, a ball formed on one end of the penetrating feeler,
an adjusting screw formed with a socket the edge walls of which enclose the ball and form ,a' positive connection between and prevent disengagement of the penetrating feeler and actuator. j
