.To ZZ whom if may conce/rn:
Be 1t known that l. HERBERT lilnNnY Bumm', a citizen' of the United kingdom of Great Britain and ireland, and a resident of 86 Newman Streetr` London, lW. l, Englanth have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric Radiators, (tor which l tiled applimtion in afirent Britain`r No. $3156, Feb. L l5,l-20,l ot which 'the followingr is a specification, such as will en ahle others skilled in the art to which it ap'' ertains to make and use the same.
rThis invention relates to electric radiators of the kind comprising an imitation fire in which an electric lamp or more than one is placed behind imitation fuel and may have a flicker-producing device such as a 'fan propelled by' heat troni the lamp or lamps and with which a resistance employed to produce heat.
Accor-dumv to the invs-Kn'tion the said re sistance is so as to radiate heat at a higher level than the lire .said resistance and tire being mounted upon the saine portable, traine so that the appliance as a wlmle can ue movedV from one apartment 'to another. lv'l'eans may loe provided to support a kettle or cooking veg.;- sel and for the purpose of' better heating the saine. the resistance may he movably mounted on the traine and he positioned in a sen'1isplierical, paralmlic or other reflector which is inovahle with the resistance. The lamp or lamps nhove mentioned may be accessible in any way as by leaving the hack ot the lire`open or providing a door through the imitation tuel.
:in example o1.c my invention is shown in the accompanyinl;T drawings in which Fig. l is a 'front elevation.
Fit'. il shows a side elevation with the reflector turned on its pivots and a l'ettle supported hy the traum and Fig. il is au elevation of the hack of the device. p
rlhe trame l carries the imitation fuel 2 under which an electric lamp 3 is arranged and has over it a 't'nn el rotated by heat from the lamp il 'to produce'the said. flickerellect.
The heating element or resistance 5 is mounted in a reflector t5 pivoted on the placed above the imitation 'ire` trame at 7 and 8. A hook Slis provided to support a kettle l() or other utensil which could however be supported in other manner such as hy resting on the traine ll in front of the reflector 6,
l have not shown the electrical connections as 'these may be ot various forms but in a general way will he plug and socket devices with suitable. control switches.
W'ith the apparatus seen in Figs. l and 3 a realistic fire effect is'ffohtained from the lamp y3 shining' through the fuel and effective heating' resultsfrom the resistance the rays of heat 'from which are thrown forwardly by the reflector upon any person in front of the fire and thus a 'very realistic effect is obtained. v
Whatl claim my invention is 1- l. An electric radiator tor imitating fire, comprising' a frame. imitation Jfuel carried in the lower end ot' the trame, a lamp for illun'iinatingr said, fuel. a reflector pivoted in the trarne ahove'the ueha heating element secured to and in front of said reiector` and means Jfor supporting a utensil from 'toe top ot' the trame over the reflector. whereby in one position ot' they retiector the, heat ot' the heating' element will be dirented laterally from the same land in another position will direct the heat toward the bottom ot' a utensil supported on said means, while the 'fuel is illuminated imitatingr tire.
:2. in electric radiator for imitating lire, comprising a 'frame imitation fuel carried in ,the lower end ot' the traine` a lamp ior illuminating; said fuel` a reflector pivotally mounted in the frame above the fuel, and e heat-ing element mounted on and in 'front of the reflector, whereby the reflector may be turned on its pivot to cause the heet ot' Athe heating element to he projected laterally therefrom and may he turned to another position tor projecting' the heat 'upwardly against the bottom of a utensil seated on the heating element. A
ln `witness whereof l have hereunto set my hand in presence ot 'two witnesses.
