Befit'lnown that-I, LAWRENCE: L. URBAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rowson, in the county of Hancock and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and use- `ful Improvements in Curtain- Pole Fasteners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, suchas will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

rlhis invention relates to window shade and curtain pole supports, and the primary object of the invention is to provide an improved combined window shade and curtain pole holder in which the shade brackets and curtain pole holders are adjustable in a horizontal and vertical plane respectively, so that curtain shades of various widths can be accommodated and the curtain pole supported at the desired height. ,A c

A further object of the invention is to provide lan improved combined `window shade and curtain pole holder in'whifch the curtain pole holder can be adjusted the desired distance above the curtain shade brackets.

A still further object is to provide an improved combined window shade and curtain pole support, which is durable and efficient in use, one that is simple and easy to manufacture, and one'thatcan be placed upon the market at a reasonable cost.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and for-mation of parts, as will. be hereinafter more specifically described, claimed and illustrated in the raccompanying drawings forming a part thereof, in which: Y

several views, the numerals 1 and 2 generally indicate the improved kwindow shade and curtain pole supports which are adapted to be secured to the opposite sides of a window trame, as clearly shown in Figure l of the drawings. Each of the window shade and curtain pole supports are identical in construction and each include the body plate 3 having the upwardly and inwardly eX- tending arms 4 and 5, which are positioned at right angles to each other. The-base 3 has a plurality of openings 6 formed therein for Vthe reception of suitable fastening elements whereby'the members 1 and 2 may be readily secured in position on a window frame. The upper and lower edges of the plate are crimped, as at 13, for a purpose which willhereinafter more fully appear. rlhe plate 11 is mounted upon an inner plate 111 which has its upper and lower edges received in the flanges S and the plate 11 and the plate 14 are adjustably connected together by means of a nut and bolt 15. Upon adjustment of the thumb nut, the plate 11 and yplate 14 may be brought forcibly into engagement with the flanges and thus held in adjusted position. The corrugated edges of the plate 11 prevent slipping of the shade brackets. T he curtain pole support-ing members are also adapted to be mounted on the arms l and include an outer `plate 16 and an inner plate 17, which is slidably received in the flanges 8 formed on the edges of the arms et and the inner plate 17 carries an outwardly extending bolt 13 which eX- tends through an opening'in the outer plate 15. A suitable thumb nut 19 is threaded on the bolt so that the same can be adjusted to firmly clamp the plate in engagement with the flanges 8 so as to prevent movement of the plate on the flanges. The outer plate 16 has its side edges crimpedso as to provide a plurality of teeth for engagf ing the flanges, so that a firm grip may be obtained thereon. The shade brackets ll and the curtain pole supporting members 10 can be mounted in either arm desired, so that either of the arms may be secured to the window frame which is :found most desirable.

From the foregoing description it can be seen that an improved curtain shade and curtain pole lsupporting device is formed in which the shade brackets can be adjusted towards or away from each other according to the width ofthe shade and in which the curtain pole supports can be adjusted Vtowards or away from the shade brackets so that the curtain pole' can be supported at the' desired height above the shade brackets.
