vBe it known that l, rlirsnosn V. citizen of the United States, and aresident of the city 0i New York,-borough of Brookflyn, in the county of Kings and State ol" N ew `York, have invented a. new and lmproved Fireproof Door, of which the lollowing is a full, cleaiyand exact description.
The present invention rel tes to new and useful improvements in sl .ing doors and it pertains more particularlyA `'todoorsot this character commonly known as fire doors and used between the compartments in vlire-proof buildings. Doors ci this type are generally maintained in open position by means of counter weightsy or "similar 51? vices controlled by fusible links, said doors being mounted upon an inclined track in order Vthat they may automatically move to closed Vposition upon operation of the fusible ln doors or the typek just described, however, great difficulty is experienced in opening` the same since such doors in order to properly perform their functions, must necessarily be constructed from heavy terial, and owing to the inclined track the operation ci moving the heavy doors up the incline of the track is not easilyaccomplished. i y

in constructions as above mentioned it is obvious that when the track is in the true horizontal position, the bottom edge of the door must necessarily be spaced with relation to the floorY ci the building, and it is a further object of the invention to provide means which will close the space between the bottom edge ci the door and the floor of the building, and, at the same time, will permit of i'iree and easy operation ci the door.

As the cord 19 parts, the support for the trigger lll is destroyed, and said trigger rocks about its pivotal point l5 to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. l andV permits the track ll to fall to rest upon the bracket 13, as shown in'dotted lines in Fig. l. lVhen the track ll has fallen to the position shown in dotted lines, it will be apparent that the door will travel down the incline to closed position until it` engages the brackets 3l where it will be retarded. Uwing Ato the door 6' being received -within the pan-like member 30, it will be apparent that as the track ll drops to the lower position, the door will move downwardly into the pan-like member 30, and as the door travels to closed position by reason of the engagement of its forward edge .with the forward end of the pan-like member 30, the latter will be moved with thedoor in order that the space between the bottom edge of the door and the floor may at all times be substantially filled.
What is claimed is:
l. In a device of the character described, a door, a pivoted track, means for supporting the track in true horizontal position, and means for releasing the support of said trac-k to permit the same to automatically assume an inclined position in order that the door may automatically move therealong to closed position. n
2. In a device of the character described, a door,'a pivoted track for supporting the same, and fusible means for supporting one end of said pivoted track normally in a true horizontal plane.
3. In a device of the character described,
for an automatic movement of the door therealong, and means forclosing the space between the bottom edge of the v`door and the bottom edge of the door opening with which the door is adapted to coact. v
5. In a device of the character described, a door, a pivoted trac-k, a fusiblelink adapted to automatically release said track to provide for an automatic movement ofthe door therealong, a supplemental track, and means supported by said supplemental track and movable by the door for closing the' yspace between the bottom edge of the door` and the door opening with which the door is adapted to coact.
6. In a lire door, in combination with a door opening, a track pivoted at one end, a door carried upon said track, means for supporting the free end of said track, and
a fusible link in said supporting means whereby upon the fusing of said link the track is permitted to assume an inclined position to permit of a movement ofthe door tlierealong by gravity.
7. In combination with a door opening, a self-,closing door comprising a track pivoted at one of its ends and adapted to normally occupy a true horizontal plane, and fusible means connected insaid supporting means whereby uponfusing of the fusible means the track automatically assumes an inclined` positionto permit of freemovement of the door therealong under the influence of gravity.V
