Description

F. GUIDRY.
SOFT COLLAR HOLDER APPLICATION FILED con 27, 1921.
Patented R1128, 1922.
bodiment is shown in UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK GUIDRY, OF ORANGE, TEXAS.
SOFT-COLLAR HOLDER.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that FRANK GUIDR-Y, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Orange, in the county of Orange and State of Texas, has invented new and useful lmprovements in Soft-Collar Holders, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to provide a soft collar holder for mens wear as a means for retaining or securing the front edges of the collar flap or fbld, and the particular object in view is to provide a. device for thepurpose which can be readily'applied and removed but which effectively holds the collar in the proper position when applied thereto; and with this object in. view the invention consists in a construction and combination of parts of which a preferred emthe accompanying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a view of a collar holder embodying the invention applied in the operative position to a collar.
Figure 2 is a tached.
Figure 3 is a side view of the same.
The device consists of a base plate or strip plan view of the holder de- 10 having terminal jaws l1, arms 12 pivotally mounted as at 13 upon ears 14 upstruck from the base plate or strip and provided at their outer ends with jaws 15 which are complemental to the terminal jaws of the base plate or strip, and a follower plate 16 having terminal pivotal connection with the inner ends of said arms and is provided with an actuating spring 17 interposed between the plane thereof and that of the base plate or strip to yieldingly hold said follower plate in spaced relation with the base plate or strip and thereby hold the jaws at the outer ends of the arms in operative or engaging relation with the jaws at the extremities of the base plate or strip.
The complemental jaws carried respective ly by the base plate or strip andthe pivotal arms are preferably provided with interlocking faces as for example and as shown in the drawing by having the jaws of said Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Feb, 28, 1922. Application filed October 27, 1921.
Serial No. 510,758.
arms convexed for reception by cavities in the jaws of the plate, to the end that an effective en agement of the jaws with the ends of the col ar may be secured.
To separate the jaws in the application of the device to the collar or in the removal of the same therefrom it is only necessary to press the follower plate toward the plane of the base plate, and upon the release of said follower plate the spring serves to close the jaws and thereby clamp the interposed portions of the collar and maintain the same in. the roper relation.
Having descri the invention, what is claimed as new and useful is 1. A soft collar; holder having a base plate or strip provided with terminal jaws, arms pivotally mounted upon the base plate or strip and provided at their remote ends with jaws cooperating with those at the extremities of the base plate, and a common actuating means for the arms.
2. A soft collar holder having a base plate or strip provided with terminal jaws, arms pivotally mounted uponthe base plate or strip and provided at their remote ends with jaws cooperating with those at the extremities of the base plate, and'means for yieldingly holding the jaws in their closed relations, and including a spring actuated follower plate connected with the inner ends of said arms.
3. A soft collar holder having a base plate or strip provided with terminal jaws, arms pivotally mounted upon, the base plate or strip and provided at their remote ends with jaws cooperatingwith those at the extremities of the base p'late, and means for yieldingly holding the jaws in their closed relations and consisting of a follower plate having terminal pivotal connection with the inner extremities of said armsand a spring interposed between the follower plate and the base plate. 1
In testimony whereof he aflixes his signature.
FRANK GUIDRY.
