Specification of Letters Patent.

Be it known that I, DIEDRICH IHMELS, a citizen of the German Republic, and residing at Hanover, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements 1n Portable Kiosks for Selling Newspapers, Books, or other Articles, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved portable kiosk or stall for selling newspapers, books or other articles, which 1s represented on the annexed drawmg, in which Fig. 1 is a front view, and Fig. 2 a side view of the same, while Fig. 3 shows a horizontal section on the line 33 of Fig. 1.
The improved portable kiosk comprises a closed lower part b mounted on small road-wheels a, an upper part d which is open at its front side and adapted to be closed by a Venetian blind c, and a roof 6. Between the lower part and the upper part, a horizontal board f projects from all four sides of the kiosk, said board enclosing the stand for the salesman within the kiosk. In the rear wall of the kiosk, an entrance and exit door 9 is provided, the part b of the board f lying at said door being foldable 011 hinges 2'. That part of the board f lying at the open front side 70 of the kiosk Serves as a selling-table or for exhibiting the ware to be sold respectively. In order to protect the exhibited ware against rain, snow or the like weather in fluences, the roof 6 projects with its lower edge Z far beyond the extent of the board 7' in such a way that it protects also the customers standing underneath.
The small road-wheels a are, in a way known in the art, turnable in any direction, and they may be connected with any suitable kind of braking mechanism, so as to arrest the kiosk at any desired place.
Two outer handles on may be arranged below the board f for guiding the kiosk during its displacement.
The upper part of the portable kiosk may be of octagonal (as shown) or any other desired appropriate shape and formation, small shelves n being mounted on its inner walls for the reception of the ware.
The lower part b may carry an inner seat for the salesman.
The outer side walls of the kiosk may be for the disposal of temporary or permanent rentable advertisements by firms of the city in which the kiosk is used, whereby its economy is warranted.
The material, of which the kiosk is made, may be wood, sheet-iron or the like.

A portable kiosk for selling newspapers,
books or other articles, comprising, in combination, a closed lower part, small roadwheels to carry the same movable in any direction. an upper part with open front side, a Venetian blind to close said open front side, an entrance and exit door at the rear side of the kiosk, a horizontal board between said upper and lower parts projecting from all four sides of the kiosk and enclosing the stand for the salesman within the kiosk and having a hinged foldable portion at said door, shelves on the inner walls of said kiosk for the reception of the ware to be sold. and a roof on said upper part having a lower edge projecting far beyond the extent of said board, the outer walls of the kiosk being adapted for the reception of temporary or permanent rentable advertisements, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
