Application 0 all 7mm it may concern:
3e known- T, FEEDERlCK daisies (yuan, a subject of the King of Great ritain. resident of the town of l-laveloclr, rovince of ()ntario, Dominion of Canada ave invented certain new and useful Tmorovements in T obacco-Display Cases, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in tobacco display cases and has for its objects to provide a display case especially adapted to contain plug tobacco, to provide a case having means to furnish the required moisture to the conta'ned tobacco and especially to provide a case adapted to house the tobacco and afforl means to disply colored cuts or photographs of the inclosed tobacco.
The invention consists essentially of the improved construction particularly described in the following specification and set forth in the-accompanying drawings and appended claim.
In th drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved display case.
Fig. 2 is a vertical section through the same.
Fig.
8 is a perspective view of one of the hinged frame doors.
Like characters of reference indicate like parts in the corresponding figures. In the drawings; A represents the improved display device comprising a casing 10 having a plurality of shelves 11 and a front wall 12 provided with a plurality of longitudinal openings 13. Corresponding with the several shelves and hinged to the front wall 12 of the casing adjacent to the several openings are frame do rs B designed to close the openings 13.
Each of the doors B consists of a frame 15 having sides 16 tapering to the upper end thereof. The frame 15 is provided with a plurality of members 17 extending between the two longitudinal pieces of the frame, separating it in a number of small and substantial square spaces 18.
The frames 15 are provided with an inward projection 19 designed to snugly fit into the opening 13. A. glass or other transparent material 20 is inserted into the projection 19 and engages the inner face of the end members 16, the longitudinal members and the intermediate members 17 of the frame B.
A removable board 21 is also inserted into ed February 12, 1921.
Serial No. 144,388.
the rearward extension of the frame 15,
engagedby the clamps 28, and designed to retain against the glass 20, cuts. coloredillustrationsor photographs oflthe tobacco located on the shelves 11. The front wall 12 of the casing is also provided at the top and bottom thereof with two orifices 22 and 23 designed each to receive a drawer 24 made of galvanized iron or other material adapted to contain water or a moistened sponge. v
The shelves 11 are provided in the center thereof and adjacent to the back wall of the casing with small openings 25 through which the moistened air can circulate alon the entire casing and reach the tobacco store on the shelves 11.
V W hen this casing is to be used the board 21 can be removed and colored cuts or photographs of the plugs of tobacco located on the shelves adjacent to one of the squares 18 concerned may be placed against the transparent member 20 between two of the members 17 and the board 21 replaced and engaged. by the clamps 28 thus retaining tlie cuts or photographs in place against the g ass. 7 The photographs or cuts to be inserted will coincide in dimensions with each space 18 and correspond to the tobacco piledon the shelf adjacent to each of the said square spaces 18 provided in the doors B. The doors B are also provided with asuitable hand grip 26 and th said doors are kept closed through any suitable locking means such as a ball and socket 27 as illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings.
This casing can be located on a shelf in,
the dealers store or in fact in any suitable place and will keep the plug tobacco fresh by means of a sufficient supply'of moistened air circulating throughout the several shelves.
As many changes could be made in the above construction and many widely different embodiments of my invention within the scope of the claim constructed without departing from the spirit or scope'thereof, it 7 is intended that all matter contained in the accompanying specification and drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.
It is of course to be understood that a plug of tobacco may be inserted in the spaces 18 instead of a cut or photograph, as fled, more room being afi'orded between the transparent member 20 andtheback board 21. Also to hasten the evaporation of the spec1- water contained in the top drawer 24:, an electric bulb could be so disposed as to be submerged in the Water of the drawer. Several minor changes could thus be made Without departing from the spirit of the invention and scope of the claim.
What I claim as my invention is:
A plug tobacco display device, comprising a casing having a plurality of shelves, the front Wall on the casing being formed With longitudinal openings, frame doors hinged to the front Wall adjacent the openings and designed to close the same, intermediate members in the doors, transparent members engaging the rear face of the door frames 15 and the intermediat members, a board removably disposed in the frame and designed to retain against the transparent members, cuts, colored illustrations or photographs of the tobacco located on the shelves, and a pin and socket locking means on the door frames. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two itnesses.
