Description
M. A. MOORE Jul 1 1924.
HAND CLEANER Original Filed April 2, 1921 MR) A MOORE.
INVENTOR WITNESSES ATTORNEYS Patented July 1, 1924.
rr s'rrss MARY A. MOORE, OF HAYDEN LAKE, IDAHO.
HAND CLEANER.
Application filed April 2, 1921, Serial No. 457,905.
To aZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARY A. MOORE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Hayden Lake, county of Kootenai, and
State of Idaho, have invented a new and Improved Hand Cleaner, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to improvements in hand cleaners, an object of the inventionbeing to provide a portable device of this type which may be worn by sportsmen and sportswomen.
In playing golf, the player when teeing up the ball, necessarily gets sand on his or her hands as the case may be. It is un desirable to wipe this sand off on ones cloth- 111 IA. further object of my invention, therefore, is to provide a wiping pad which may be worn by the players and upon which they may conveniently wipe the sand from their hands.
A still further object is to provide a device which may be conveniently utilized as a receptacle for score card and pencil as well as for a hand cleaner.
It is also a purpose of my invention to provide a device of the character stated which will be neat and attractive in appearance, simple and practical in construction,
efficient and durable in use, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and an rangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawings:
4 Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the preferred way in which my improved hand cleaner is worn.
Figure 2 is a view in front elevation of the cleaner.
4 Figure 3 is a view in transverse section therethrough on the line 33 of Figure 2.
Figure 4: is a fragmentary view in rear elevation of the upper end of the backing sheet of the securing device.
It is to be understood that the drawings Renewed November 23, 1923.
I are merely illustrative of the broad idea of the device, and that my invention might be embodied in various constructions other than the one illustrated which is designed primarily for ladies use.
In the drawings 1 represents a backing sheet of leather or some similar flexible, durable material. 2, 2 represents strips of tape sewed around the edges of the backing sheet to give an ornamental appearance to the device. 3 represents a pocket formed by sewing three edges of a piece of tape or other suitable material to the face of the backing sheet. The pocket accommodates a pencil 4:. I i
5 represents a wiping pad in the form of a piece of sheepskin or other material which will present the desired soft outer surface. The wiping pad 5 has its lower edge sewed to the lower edge of the backing sheet 1 and its side edges sewed to the side edges of the backing sheet 1 forming a pocket between thepad and sheet for the reception of a score card 7such as is ordinarily used by golfers.
I have illustrated one means of attaching the cleaner to the outer garment of a golfer which comprises a plate 8 having a pair of pins 9 hingedly mounted upon its rear face and keepers 10 receiving the free ends of the pins. One pin may be utilized to secure the plate 8 and the backing sheet 1 together while the other is used to secure the plate to a suitable flexible support such as the skirt of a golfer.
Various slight changes and alterations might be made in the general form of the parts described without departing from my invention and hence I do not wish to limit myself to the precise details set forth but shall consider myself at liberty to make such slight changes and alterations as fairly. fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is:
A hand cleaner of the character described adapted to be attached to an outer garment, comprising a flexible backing sheet, a wiping pad appreciably smaller than the backing sheet, comprising a piece of sheeplower end of said pencil pocket adapted to be concealed by a score card in the firstmentioned pocket, and means carried by the upper end of the backing sheet for attaching said sheet to an outer garment.
MARY A. MOORE.
