nmvrowisnn iaan HANGER ron STRAP ENDS;
To all whom it may concern; g y
7 Be it known that I, GEORGE R. lVlULrIoL-v LAND, a citizen of the United States,v and a resident of Riverside,in thecounty ofBurlington and State of New Jersey,have made and invented certainnew and useful Improvements in Removable-Bar Hangers for StrapEnds, ofv which the following-1w is a of a somewhat modified form of removable specification. i i My invention relates to a removablebar hanger and particularly @to a bar hanger for securing a strapqor bracelet to a watch case.
The object of my invention is, to provide a removable bar hanger whereby; aloop or eye may be easily and; readily attached to a frame or support and readily removed or disconnected therefrom.
A further object is to provide a, removable bar hanger which is. simple in C011? struction, embodying but few parts of simple design, and of such nature and character that the parts may be easily and readily machined or fabricated and at thesame time to provide a removable bar hanger which will be efficient and serviceable in op eration and one which is particularly adapt ed for employment with articles of jewelry such as a wrist watch case, which is ordinarily held to the wrist by a strap or bracelet. i
A further object is to improve generally and enhance the utility of articles of the class to which the present invention pertains, and with the foregoing and other. objects in view, my invention consists in the improved removable bar hanger illus trated in the accompanying drawing and hereinafter described and claimed, and in such variations and modifications thereof as will be obvious to those skilled in the art towhich my invention relates, it being parting from the spirit thereof.
The preferred embodiment of my inven- I tion is disclosed in the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 1s a view in elevation, of a WIISt watch having a strap seouredthereto by my improved removable bar hangers;
Figure 2 is an enlarged detail View illustrating the removable bar hangersecuredto the frame or arms of the watch case;
Figure 3 is a detail view in perspective of .the removable bar; r Figure 4 is a detail'view in perspective of the friction pin for holding the removable b-ar securely in place and at the same time allowing for its ready removal when desired;-=- I p "z I Figure 5 is a fra mental view in section bar hanger; and, ,-Figure"g6 1s a detail view in perspective of thefriction pin employedin thismodified ,form' of my invention 7 1 Referring specifically to the several views,
wherein similar; reference numerals desig-v nate corresponding parts throughout, the arms Aare representative of the lugs upon a wrist Watch case or anystyle or type of frame or support to which it may be desirable to detachably secure a loop or eye,such as,
for example, located at the end of the ordinary strap foraa wrist watch case.
The arms A are provided with the aligned openings B and which are adapted to nlcely receive the removable friction pin D. A bar E is adapted to fit between the confronting faces of the arms A, and has the opening F which extends therethrough of approximately the same size as the openings B- so as to align therewith. The removable friction pin D is of such size as to also fit snuglywithinthe opening F 0fthe tube. The body portion of the friction pin D is split as at G' and the two resultingside walls H are spread apart, so that this portion of the pin is of relatively' greaterdiameter thanthe opening F within the removable bar E. I The pin D, being formed of resilient metal, is accordingly adapted to engage the side walls of the opening of the removable bar E when forcibly pressed therein.
Thus when it is desired to secure a'strap such as K to a wrist Watch case L, the strap is provided with the usual loop M at its extremity andthe barE is first inserted within theloop or eye M. The bar is then brought between the confronting arms A and the openings of the arm and bar brought into alignment, The friction Ipin D; is then forcibly thrust through the aligned openings B of the arms and the opening F of the bar until the ends of the pin are flush with the outer walls of the arms, such as illustrated in Figure '2. As the pin is thus forcibly moved into place the side walls H will be compressed and accordingly frictionally engages the side walls of the opening within the bar and thus securely but detachably hold the bar in place and accordingly removably secur the strap K to the frame, V
'A somewhat modified form of my in-. vention is'disclosed in Figures 5 and 6,
wherein the friction vpin .N' is provided with either one or both ends 0 split, as at P,
the resulting sides Q, of the barbeing then forced apart. With this type of friction pin, the removable bar-E is first brought into alignment with the openings B of the frame or lugs and the sides Q of the lead ing end of the friction pin compressed so as to enter the opening B of the arm A. The friction pin is thenrforcibly moved into position as illustrated in fFigure'f 5. The sides Q will tend to resiliently spring apart and in so doing frictionally engage the side walls of the openingsB in th'e arms andaccordingly hold the removable bar E firmly but removably in position.
VVhilemy bar hanger as thus constituted pin in place. I i Signed at ing confronting arms provided with aligned openings therein, aremovable bar fitting :betweensaid arms and provided with an opening extending therethrough, a pin extendingthr'ough the openings in the arms 1 and the removable bar, said pin provided: c with-a? split portion between its ends, and
with the resultin'g side walls spread apart and frictio-nally engaging the adj acent surrounding walls'of said bar and holding said Riverside in thecounty of Bur: lington and State of New Jersey'this 9th] day of J anuary ,A.'D. 1923'. a GEORGE R. MULHOLLAND.
,Vitnessesz; I V 1 GEORGE HAIsoH, BERNARD LEVY.
