To all whom it may concern:
, Be it known that we, WILLIAM F; REYN- OLDS and WILLIAM A. CArHnY, citizens of the United States, residing at Houston, in 5 the county of Harris and State of Texas,
have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Display Apparatus, of which the following isa specification;
This invention relates to new and useful improvements ina display apparatus.
One object of the invention is to provide an apparatus of the character described, specially designed for use in connection with the purpose of advertising and/displaying the drink being sold. As illustrated in the drawings, the the special purpose of displayingand advertising fruit juice drinks, "particularly orange juice,
. the particular use for which it maybe desired. 9

in appearance.
A further feature of the invention resides in the provision of 1 an advertising and displaying apparatus which is of very simple construction and may be cheaply constructed and. easily and economically operate-d.
With the above and other objects in View, the invention has particular relation tofcertain novel features of construction, operation, and arrangement of parts, an example of which is given .in specification, and illus-v trated in the accompanying drawings, wherein a Figure 1 shows a device.
Figure 2 shows a vertical sectional view, and V Figure 8-shows a rear view of the operating mechanism, partly in section.
Inthe drawings, the numeral 1 designates avcase which is formed to representa pot,
and the numeral 2 designates the representation of a fruit tree which isanchoredin said pot. As shown, an orange tree is represented. trunk of the artificial tree which'is preferably tubular "in form and composed of strong .inaterialsuch as sheet metal. The
cbld drink stands, and at similar places, for.
device has been designed for although the apparatus is capable of Various embodimentsto adapt it to Another object of the invention is to. pro and display ng" dev ce which is of-novel construction and attractive front elevation of the,
' is of anywell known construction,
The numeral 3 designates the case is sustainedon a suitable base asst. The numeral 5 designates a verticallyextending transverse partition or wall, which islocated'behind the artificial tree, so as tohide the operating mechanism, as Well as to form a support therefor. There is a frame work fastened to this wall in the rear designated as a whole by the numeral '6. Suitable pulleys .as land 8 are fastened to the respective shafts, 9 and 10, and these rotate in suitable bearings, in the respective bearing supports 11, 11, and12, 12, forming the up per and lower timbers of the supporting framework. Over these pulleys there opa crates an endless belt 1 3,.and spaced apart along this belt on the. outside are the lugs 14, forming carriers for, the individual oranges or other fruit, 15. Mounted in the frame-work 6 there is a suitable motor 16, whose shaft has a worm gear 17, which is in mesh with and drives a similar gear 18,
fixed on the transverse shaft 19. This shaft has a large pulley 20, fixed thereon which is aligned with a similar smaller pulley 21, which is fixed on the shaft 22 above the motor. This last mentioned shaftissuitably mounted to rotate in'bearings carried by the framework, and has a large pulley 23, fixed thereon in alignment with'a similar smaller pulley 24 which is. fixed on the shaft'tli The pulleys 21 and 2d are driven by the respective belts 25 and 26, which are turn driven'by the corresponding pulleys 20 and 23. Through the mechanism described, the elevator apron 13 is driven.
There is a looped conduit 27, one arm of which extends up through the trunk 3 of the artificial tree, and asection of this conduit, as 28,is formed of glass or other transparent material and is located in front of said trunk, so as to be visible, as shown in Figures l and 2. This conduit extends through the partition wall 5 and incorporated with it there is a suitable pump 29. This pump and itis not thought necessary to show the details thereof; The pump impeller shaft 30 has a pulley 31, fixed thereon, which 'is aligned witha pulley 32, which is fixed on the-shaft 22 and a belt 33 drivesthe pump, the same being driven pipe 34', and through this stand pipe the looped conduit 27 may be filled 'with the by the pulley 32. Connected into the looped conduit 27, there is a stand drink .to 'be displayed, and ta e willkeep "up a constant circulation of the fluid through the conduitj27, whichvwill be dislower end-diverges rearwardly through the :partition 5, and is formed into a hopper 36. The front side ofthis hopper is 'inclosed by, the belt 13, and the bottom of the hopp r has/- played throughglthe transparent section 28. "Leading from the upper'end of the "con-V I veyer 13 there is a trough-like chute 35,
which is spiraled around the treeand whose 1 a cut-away. portion 37, permitting the pas- ."sage'ofthe lugs, or carriers, 14; i The frult,
as .15',.are e'levatedaone ata time by the carriers 14,to the top o f'theelevator, and they are picked up by the elevatorand again ele- V vated, thus repeating the cycle} e All of the operative mechanis f is hidden by the partition 5, and only that part of the apparatusshown in Figure 1 is'visible, thus presentin'g a unique and attractive appear mice, and forming an efiectivel display of theqd rink being sold, as well as being an effective advertisement thereo i.
What we claim is V fl. An apparatus of the character de-V scribed, including'the simulation of. a, fruit] "tree a chute spiraled there-around whose 'lo werend terminates in a hopper, an'elevator associated with the chuteand arranged to engage-with and elevate objectsfrom the, V hopper: and deliver them toft'he upper end i i of the chute, and means for driving'the elevator.
