HARRY E. .A NSON, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSN. HEATING DEVICE FOR PRIMERS..
Application filedv February 20, 1922. Serial No. 537,882.
ToaZZ/wkomz'tmaycmwern:
Be it'known that I, HARRY E. ANSON, United States, and resident of Milwaukee, in the county of Milwaukee and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Heating Devices for Primers;
and exact'description thereof.
y invention relates to a heating device for device of this kind which is adapted to be used on automobiles for heatin f the priming ,liquid prior to its introduction-into the VIl() nal combustion engine having the .cylinder en 'ne cylinder.
he general object of the invention is to provide improved means for heating the priming liquid electrically, which means will be operative only at the time when the primer is operated. I h
' more specific object of the invention is to provide an electric heating coil for the iich is connected with an a switch normally open, but automatically closed whenever the primer is used. U
With the above and other objects in view. the invention consists in certain details of construction, which will be iiiore fully explained with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure l is a sectional view of a portion of an engine cylinder with niyinvention connected therewith.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional View of the priming device.
Figure 3' is a longitudinal of the heating coil, and
Fiire 4 is a detail, plan view of the switc Referring numeral 5 sectional vicw in detail to the drawing, the indicates the cylinder of an interu fuel inlet 6 with which is connected a duct 7 through which a priming liquid may lic introduced. Connected With the duct 7 is a cylinder 8 which is preferably secured to the instrument' panelor dash, 9 of the autoiiiohile. A plunger 10 is reciprocably mounted with- 4in the cylinder 8 and is carried hy the stem 1 1 and normally held in its depressed position by means of a/coil spring 12. A head 13 is coiinectedwitli thc other end of the stem for the purpose of manipulating the plunger for injecting the priming liquid into inlet.
,electric heating coil- 15. This coil is and l do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear,'
. 'spring switch 1 7 which casing 18, 'surrounding the outer end ofthe primers and has especial reference to a` member of the For the riorA to its introduction into the cylinder, have surroundeda portion o f the duct 7 heated through an electrical circuit 16, which may be connected to the battery, or any-other sourceof electrical energy, and' includes a.-
stem l1, A knob 19 is secured to the stem adjacent the head 13, abutting the movable switch 17 and normally holding the stem open when held in depressed spring 12.
vIt will he readily that when the stem pur ose of operatin r willp be released angd will) be closed by While the primer is heiner operated, therefore, the liquid passing tirougli the duct 7 will he heated by the coil se uently permiteasy starting of the engine, t will he understood that the specic structure described is for the illustration only and that other structures may be easily devised ing out the 'principles of .my invention. :[t is my intention, therefore, to include all such modifications which fall within theV scope of the appendedA claim'.
l claim In a device of. the character described, the
' h a priii'ier having a ductposition bymeans of the understood, however,
immediately L equivalent ing liquid therethrough and having an er1-4I lai-ged head for manipulating the same, of, an electric licating'coil surrounding a portion of said duct, a circuit for energizin said Acoil and including a spring switch a jacent the plunger, adjacent its head, and a coil spring surrounding the stein of the mallyv holding collar in engagement with the holding it open, the spring switch tensioncd so as to close when the-plunger is retracted for the priming operation..
In testimony that l claim the forecoing I b have hereunto sci in v hand at Milwaukee,
iiithe county of Milwaukee and State 0f 110 isconsin.
HARRY E. nNSON.
