JONATHAN WAINWBIGHT, JB., PHILADEIIPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
rune. [BOTTLE- Application filed Julie 26, 1922. Serial 110. 570,997.
The top of the bottle is finished by a To all whom it may concern:
Be it knownv that I, JONATHAN Want- WRIGHT, Jr., a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadel hia, in the county of Philadelphia and S ate of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Paper Bottles, of which the following is a specification.
This. invention relates to sanitary paper bottles,
1y applied to milk bottles, it is to be understood that it may be utilized for producing bottles to contain other substances. I
.One of the principal objects is to produce a device of this nature which shall-closely follow the lines and shape of the present standard glass milk bottle so as to'be capato be. the most desirable embodiment of my ble of being ment at present in use W ping the glass bottle. a
- Another object is to produce'a device of this nature which is of simple construction, cheap to manufacture and highly eflicient for the purpose for which it is intended.
With these and other objects in view, the invention resides in certain novel features of construction and combination and arfilled and capped by the equipvfor filling and caprangement of parts, the essential features of 39 which are hereinafter fully described, are particularly pointed out in the appended claims, and are illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a paper bottle constructed according to my invention.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional. view on line 22 of Figure 1.
Like characters of reference refer to like parts in both views.
Referring to the drawing in detail, 10 represents the cylindrical body portion of the bottle in. the lower end of which a bottom 11 is ,crimped. a conical upper section 12 is crimped so as to form a collar 13 which fits about the upper end of member 10 and is secured thereto in any suitable, convenient and effective manner. All of the parts thus far vdescribed are of paper and are impregnated with wax or parafiin to render them impervious to moisture.
' The cone 12 is cut away at 14 and a window 15 of celluloid or any other suitable substance is applied on the inside. This provides a means for determining the cream line of the milk.
and while here shown as particularmetallic ring 16 which is pressed into tight engagement with the top edge of the truncated cone 12 and which is formed with an inner annular flange 17 forming a seat for the cap or top which may be of any usual 1 and suitable form.
Particular emphasis is laid on the fact I that the bottle is constructedof a shape substantially identicalv to the 'ordina glass milk bottle so that it may be hand ed and filled by the same machinery which is ordinarily used for this purpose, and the .adoption of this form of bottle will not necessitate any change in the filling and c'appingmachinery now in use.
While I have described what I consider invention, it is obvious that many of-the details may be changed without inany way departing from the spirit of my invention, and I therefore do not limit myself to the details herein shown, nor to anything less than the whole of my .invention as set forth by the appended claims.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let for reception of a' closure cap 2. In a bottle of the character described.
a body of cellulosic material, an upper section extending from the upper end of the ring secured on the probody. and a reinforcing upper end of the upper section and vided with an inwardly flange forming a seat for a cap pressed mto the upper end of said upper section. 3. In a bottle of .the character described. a body, an upper section extending from the upper end of the body, and a reinforcing ring secured onthe upper end of the upper section and provided with an inwardly pro: jecting annular flange forming a seat for a cap pressed into the upper end of said upper section. v I I a. In a bottle of the character described, a
projecting annular paper body, a paper upper section secured 5. In a bottle of the character described, on the upper end of the body, and a reina paper body, and a paper upper section forcing and protecting ring secured upon crimped to provide 21 depending flange fit 1 and extending within the upper end of said ting snugly about and secured on the upper 5 upper section, said ring being provided end of the body.
with an inwardly projecting flange forming In testimon whereof I afiix m signature. -a seat for a cap pressed into the vino JONATl AN WAI HT, JR.
