Description

March 18 i924.
H. SLIKERMAN BRASSIRE CORSET Filed OCT.. 7. 1921 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 gether so as to form a one-piece integral garment. The panels or gores may be cut to any suitable length so as to extend to the desired point below the hips and above or adjacent to the bust. is herein shown in Figs. 1 to ai., the garment comprises contiir nous lengthwise extending lront panels or gores 9, side gores or panels 10, and rear panels 11, 12 and 14e. lt Will be seen that the panels 9, 10 and 11 are secured together in any suitable manner and the saine extend continuously the entire length oit the garnient. The back or rea-r panels 12 in the present instance are secured to the panels 11 at either side thereof, and reicerably entend to points substantially niitway oit the back or adjacent to the waist line, and are secured as at 13 to panel 14; also stitched to the lengthwise extending panels or gores 11.
yln this embodiment or my invention the garment at the front thereo't is provided With an opening l5 'from the upper to the lower edge thereof. The adjacent panels 9 are detachably or releasably connected together, preferably by means oit concealed Jlastenings 15 and 1T illustrated. in l to 7 inclusive. rEhe adjacent panels 12 at the rear of the garment are provided with an opening 18 therebetween extending to a i point adjacent to the Waist and the same are flexibly interconnected by means ot lacings 19 or any other 'form ot adjustable connection. Thus, the lower portion ot the garment, which is constructed to 'form the corset, may be adjusted as desired to fit the wearer by means ol the flexible connections 19. lt Will be further noted that the upper portion olf' the garment, which is constructed to form a brassire or bust supporter, has no opening at any part of the back thereof, which constitutes a very important and adn vantageous feature, as hereinafter pointed out.
The continuous or integral panels torming this improved one-piece garment ina y provided in any preferred manner with stays or stitlening ineens, the saine in the present instance, comprising stays 2() inserted in tubulaiI openings 21 `formed at the seams oithe adjacent gores or panels, as particularly7 illustrated in lligs. 3 and 8.
rlhus, in order that the combined one-piece brassire and corset may be provided with the necessary stitilening means, the stays will preferably entend substantially or approximately the entire length of the garment.
ln the embodiment :illustrated in Fte". 9, the construction oit the garment is substan tially the same as that in the embodiment hereinbelfore described with the exception that the opening at the trent ot the garment is dispensed with and in lieu thereof the garment is provided with an opening 22 and detachable or releasable connections L3 adjacent to the side thereof. In such case, the
iront panels 9 will pr terably stitched together as at Q/-l in all other respects, pai ticularl @-1 s the novel construction oit the l t. the aai-nient will be the saine as hereinbeiiore described.
acont to the lower thereof, the Yliront panels 9 are provided with the useal trout hose si'spporting members 251 At the bacia ot the ai-nient suitable hose supporting ineinbers are also provided, the saine being connected to the gores 11 and l2, preerably at ie air-aal juncture point thereot, as sho*1 d 2 and 3. rlllie usual ci f shoulder straps 27 are secinfed portion oi the ce, the saine ont reinforced iorced seams 29. parts therefore,
. are ends ot the contini L reinforc l seams raving a direct line of stress thrm i ie gmfnient, whereby th strain or pull troni the ln se supporting ineinbers will be transferred and taken up the shoulder straps.
lt will be particularly noted that the brassire porti i of ent has a substantially pe t is also provided Y ortion permanently joined to the hrassiereeorset, the hip portion being quickly and f .ectiyely adjusted at the bac by i `)le adjustable means. lileuce, Witn the s or closed back to the "Yaist line and t, substantially a pertit.,y it pos, .ile to draw inanent shape in and aejust the tively, easily and incre n i. with the lines of ligure. hip adjustment is possible yention by drawing the ir gether by simple doirniva lacings extending 'to the lower baclr. as particularly shown in Fig. 2, and insures niairiinuin comfort and proper it due to the tact that is possible to draw in the hip portions Without drawing in the waist. l'lence the hip portions only may be adjusted to the 'forni Without applying substantial pressure or above the Waist line.
llinftln= more, as a result of this structure, ,'liei'el.i.' the shoulder straps Qld-Which may he et elastic or sonieivl it r .silient maH terial,-are at all times subjected to stress or tension, the tendency or" the bi;l siere portion to wrinkle or bunch together either in the iront or baflr thereof Will be entirely eliminated.
Therefore. it will be readily perceived 'that the durability of' this combined brassire and corset as ail'lording maximum comfort, will be materially enhanced.
accordance This eli'ective present inportion topull or the edge of the ifi-enero @n account ot the fact that the brassire portion et the garment is so constructed as to form a continuous or solid garment throughout the back thereor to the Waist Without lacings or openings, the same may therefore be constructed to supplant or talie the place et a camisole, serving at the saine time as a brassire. For this purpose, as stated, the back or' the brassire portion is continuous or solid; the material is made preferably of silk or sillr finish or the like, and the upper edge 'thereof is provided with lace or ribbon as desired. Thus, in essence, l have provided a single continuous oneH piece garment combining three functions, namely, that or corset, that oit a brassire and that of a camisole. The brassire portion is suitably stitlened, so as to perform the functions thereof, and at the same time is constructed at the trent and the baci; as Well, as in regard to material and inish to pertorm the VIfunctions of a camisole.
ris Will be interred from the above description the garment above the Waistline is continuous, except tor the releasable fastening means used to secure the garment in place on the body ot the wearer. here are no laces or other means for positively adjusting the girth of the garment above the Waist.
liurthermore, it Will be readily observed that l have provided a single continuous garment without any transverse opening around or adjacent to the Waist, and wherein maximum comfort may be accorded the wearer by virtue ot eliminating entirely the tendency ot the garment to Wrinkle or cause friction.
Although l have described my invention in its preferred form, it is to be understood that l do not limit myself to the construction herein shown and described, but may maire any and all changes embraced Within the scope of the appended claims.
l claim as my invention:
l. A brassire corset garment including an integral structure extending above and below the waist so as to embrace the bust and the hips, said garment having releasi Ecstening means at one side thereof, the ton edge oi said garment being substantially ight and teaninating below the line of the armpits, the baci: et said garment being solid or uninterrupted from the top down to the waist line and the part of said garment above the -vasit being solid or nonadjustable, `iid garment at the rear side bilui'cated virom the lower end to the `waist Aine only, and means for adjusting and drawing in said garment at the baci: from Y e lower end to the Waist line only.
2. i brassire c' rset'garinent including an ii gral structure ext nding above and below the Waist so as to embrace the bust and the hips, said garment hav releasable tasfening means dov/n one side thereof, said a ment being solid or non-adjustable above Waist line being biiiurcated at one i e trom the waist line down to the lower edge, and iii-ears tor adjusting or dawing in said garment from the Waist line only to the lower edge Without disturbing the 'fit or the garment above the Waist.
